Pinto Beans
« on: January 04, 2012, 07:18:16 AM »
Besides the extra gas they may give you, does anyone like to use Pinto Beans as one of their complex carb choices?

If you soak them before cooking this will help break down some of the gas causing carbs from what I've read.

The ones I've picked up from Kroger show the nutritional value as "dry" factors.

35 grams dry =
7   grms protein
20 grms carbs
o   grms fat

Since I'll be making a whole pot, I'm guessing the weight will change with adding the water and them cooking, does this change the nutritional value?  I would think it does, if so what's the new nutrition?

I hate trying to convert this stuff.....only the bean knows!!!

How in the fuck can you eat a whole pot of that shit?

After about 2 or 3 bowls I don't even want to look at it anymore.

My family will indulge as well so I'm not the only one eating them.

Good to see someone trying new things other than the latest burgers from McDonalds.

Samir Bannout ate a lot of them in his younger years.

That makes sense.

Do you ever throw any Cilantro in there? I find it brings some pretty good flavor out of it.

I'll eat these only on my High carb day (3 low / 1 high)

I'll use these as a preworkout meal (60 minutes prior to training) with small amount of rice.  I'll probably just add some Kroger brand Taco Sauce which is very low in carbs for taste, I use that now and it's great tasting.  I'll also have a small protein drink at about 20 grams worth with this meal.

The photo is a bit of a trick, she (Terri Jane) is quite a bit fatter than she appears there.  Great shot though 8)
