Title: A question for the elder statesmen

It's come to my attention that many of the better physiques on getbig are over 40.

What are the keys to longevity? 

How do you stay ahead of the aches and pains?

What are your methods and what have you learned the hard way?

There is no way to escape the pain. You just have to live with it. at 57 and training for over 35 years my shoulders are fried. You have to learn how to train smarter. less weight, higher reps, slow concentric and eccentric movements and gear.

I do at least 10min rowing,bike,cross trainer etc
Before lifting, keep myself covered up & warm
during training & pyramid up in weight.
Also i do a lot of stretching / flexibility work.

Sucks getting older. 54 tomorrow.
Have done many sports Boxing, martial arts.
Powerlifting & Bodybuilding.
It all helps & it is all wear & tear on your Body
It's worth it Though.. :)

No drugs.  No aches and pains.

Lift consistently and eat a healthy diet.

I'm 44.

Over these past two years, I've only noticed increasing stiffness when I wake. And sometimes the stiffness lasts throughout a day, here and there.

But my strength continues to grow and I expect it will for a decade or so more, no sweat. My early 50s is when I'll be at my best, strength-wise.

As far as lingering pain, yeah, use store-bought pain meds (sparingly) and ... deal with it.

You pay to play and all that.

Make sure to inject lots of deca it will keep away the aches and pains.
