Happens all the time at my gym. Some newbie works out there for a few weeks, thinks he's got it all figured out then wants to spar with a trainer and tries to establish themselves as no push over out to gates to only get "put in check" early.
That's what those slaps were for. Boxing... you just drop a kidney or liver shot on em and sit em T/F down early to let em know they not ready.
