How wide?

Personally, I find that a shoulder-width grip, give or take one hand's width, is best for all exercises.  Any wider or narrower and either my strength goes to shit or it hurts my joints

I will do wide, medium, and narrow grip...

I will go for higher reps with the wide grip.

Ultra wide grip bench is a recipe for disaster for an average/narrow dude

I used to bench super wide.... I just haven't done it in a while.

Trust me; I won't be doing any 1 rep max's with the wide grip

Ronnie and Markus both use(d) ultra high dosages.  That's the one and only reason they were as big as they were/are.

Too wide a grip is likely to be rough on your joints later in life.  Dammit!  I am now in that "later in life" situation!

 ;D ;D

Bear in mind that the bar is pretty much a fixed width, and shoulder width varies - a narrower person may appear to use a regular grip but they are pressing wide, and a wide person may appear to be pressing wide, but regular.

shortens the range of motion. If you want to really target chest do pre exhaust ;) Wide grip shoulder stress...wide chest ..no. a myth

I feel like wide grip with elbows flared out on flat bench is just asking for injury

shortens the range of motion. I always train with a medium grip. The thinking in these Days was to take the triceps out of the exercise. You canīt take front delts out of it or triceps. Basic anatomy. Itīs like Chins. wide grip wide lats...Bollocks. Look At Yates with his "undergrip" Rows.

I'm gonna use all grip widths....  But obviously go much lighter if I'm using a wide, or a really narrow grip

If nothing else; changing the grips keeps things from getting boring

i dont think they are using a wide grip. it actually looks like a medium grip. it looks wide because they are on the tall side and wide.

It boils down to the individual i think.  If a very wide grip hurts your shoulders then bring it in.  If not then i say incorporate it.  I've done wide grip before but my strength goes down considerably.

I think that is due to less help from the triceps.... and less leverage

maybe it's why Ruhl developed a steinberger inner chest

Outer pec?

I think that outer area is stressed (and stretched) a bit more with the wide grip. The pec gets a better stretch when the hands are out wide

At some point; he tore his pec. It was odd. He tore it at the sternum. Usually guys tear it at the armpit.
