yes, he has to deadlift it and lock it out like you would a normal two handed deadlift.

true, he didn't hold it at the top for long. still, though. heaviest DB i've ever held without a strap was 180, i can't even imagine the grip necessary for 280+ on a goddamn RT.

I remember seeing a clip where Jon Pall Sigmarson deadlifted what seemed to be over 300lbs with one had, Ill see if I can dig it up.

The Rolling Thunder is not a normal one handed deadlift. The grip is very thick and rotates on its axis if I am not mistaken. Felix is an animal!

I bought one for my strongman contest I put on during my show in Hawaii. Someone took it home. I never really got to see it done except a few times. But it has a huge handle and it does spin. I think the guy who won my show did like 200 or so. Very hard.

By the way the people I mention I know I have worked with or done something with. If you wanted me to start name dropping people I have seen in person but not really met then you would really get all fired up. I'm sorry you are boring and you have met no one. That is not my fault. If I was in your position and never met or seen anyone but your family I would probably be pissed off too. That is why I can put up with you kids. You can't help who you are or how you turned out.
