Not really a g-string in those days. They called them posing pouches.
Some of the muscleheads in LA didn't work so they could train and hang out at the beach. A few posed in
publications aimed at the gay men. Larry Scott did some of these photos and apparently that sort of thing
was frowned upon by the AAU Mr America committee. If you posed in a pouch you could say goodbye to
winning that title. Of course if you were posing as an artist's model for a class, etc., that was okay. John
Grimek did exactly that.
