Title: Would Flex Wheeler have made a good Mr. Olympia?
Post by: growthfactor on October 14, 2006, 03:59:28 PM
Given that Flex is a cocky individual who is completely high on himself, do you feel he would have made a good Mr. O if he had beaten Ronnie?

The 1993 ASC Wheeler physique, hands down, one of the best bbing has EVER seen.

The attitude in 93? No, not a good Olympia. The attitude today would make for a great champion. But that's what life is about right, evolution and self-growth.

Flex wheeler's body would have made a good Mr. O and he deserved the title IMO but his attitude has never been my favorite.

ok, I can somewhat agree with you. I've read he has been an ass before. but he is a family man and does still try to stick with the sport, industry.

If he had won in 1993, he would have been very marketable.  His physique was beautiful.  He was like Arnold in the fact he attracted positive attention from even non BB fans because he wasn't too big.

He lacked that charisma and charm though to really hit it big.

self doubt, self loathing, and insecurities yet to be coped with tend to kill that special "charisma/charm" factor.

The answer is no because the Weider's always want a Mr. Olympia champion to be soft spoken and always act professional without sounding like a conceited bodybuilder.

Naaa, Flex had a great physique but he wasn't consistant and didn't have a really good work ethic...

Physique wise without a shadow. Actually without a shadow and he would have been!

a mr olympia should be someone who is free of oil and has the best physique attainable on the day it matters most. Not who has the best support, the most marketable look or has friends among the judging panel.

I dont think Flex would have been a good Mr Olympia because his attitude was poor, his work ethic was second rate and he was basically full of shit some of the time. Physique wise he should have dominated any - ANY - stage he went on but genetics alone cant win you the prize. If he had the drive then i have no doubt there is nobody including ronnie that could have stayed with him.

flex attitude now versus how he was is a huuge difference

He`s got a better attitude now.Much more humble ,sociable and mature. That attitude back in `93 and so on is what happens to all of us when we are young , we are just full of shit and think we`re invincible and get so cocky. Its just youth.

To find someone who is young and down to earth and humble and is at the top of their proffession (and IS esssentially THE MAN) is soooo hard to find.Thats why i think JAY CUTLER is allllll class.I mean when he beat ronnie. he took it in stride. As opposed for example to some idiot on a mesage BOARD that makes a  physical transformation and suddenly thinks hes some great thang and starts having moe to say than the guy who has won the Mr O

If Flex had won the Mr. Oilympia that would not have been good given how oily his muscles looked in 1998.

In 1993 it would have been good.

but not the 1998 Oilympia.

Fine , i dont know who he was responding to in that insert

But i would sure as heck like to read what the person said to FLEX  for him to respond like that. That would be more appropriate doncha think ?

All the person said was for Flex to quit hiding and speak about it. In case you have short term memory loss, Flex went an entire week without addressing the subject regardless of the outrage poured on this forum and MD's.
