Title: duz anyone know where i can get the attachment to make a T-Bar out of a bb??
Post by: chrisg on October 15, 2006, 10:42:48 AM
Pumpster mentioned it to me a long time ago when I asked about building lats w/ free weights and since then I've just been doing wide-grip pullups for lats. I've looked everywhere and can't find it...

I just put one corner of the bar in corner of the room, load the other end with 10KG plates and interlock my fingers round the bar and start repping.

You need a v-handle.

just use the normal seated cable row v handle and make sure you have someone put their foot on the empty end of the bar when you go heave and i don't mean to STAND on the empty side as one moron did to me one time, hahaha.

Yup, and just jam the other end of the bar in a solid (read: 'drywall-less') corner and you'll be good to go.

That works.  Also, when I had to train at home for a while I just threw a 50 lb. sandbag over the end.  Worked like a charm.

The hinge for the other end of the bar makes a difference, makes the movement more stable and less distracting. As far as handles use a triangle attachment underneath the bar, or buy the one they sell:

i use a metal pin from the squat rack that we modified slightly...  we wrapped tape in two spots near the middle of the bar... we wedge the olympic bar between the tape wads... makes it nice and stable

you dont need that little piece just push it up in a corner and grab it with both hands like a baseball bat, but use 35, 25s, according to how long your arms are, you dont want to get screwed out of that squeeze do to plates hitting you chest

Or use 45s and just stand on a block.

Putting the bar in the corner without something to hold it down is not as effective. OK but not as stable; can be distracting.

in iraq we actually just had someone stand on it we didnt have much to work with, or slide it under like a calf rasie machine or anything that makes that corner shape and has a little room for you to slide uner but the 45's are a good idea ive never tried tha before

It's fine. The key is to pull up and BACK to make sure the free end of the bar doesn't fly up.

If you can't do that, just put a heavy DB over the end of the bar. Works great

Although the V bar would be better, either works.,

Grab the attachment from the lat pulldown area as mentioned.

Also be careful with these - the end of the bar will chew through brickwork in no time, leaving lovely holes in every corner of the gym.
