I was watching CNN today as I did my cardio.......there was an evac to the mountains because of tsunamis but they reported no tsunamis had arrived yet..... only power outages so far and no deaths or serious injuries either......i suspect his power is out......

onlyme is not the wrestler earthquake, get your facts straight ;)
-
if i'm not pulling this out of my ass, eathquake measurements run in tens.
so a level 1 is a certain movement, level 2 is ten times worse than 1, 3 is ten times worse than 2, etc. so yeah, 6.6 is pretty massive.

Earthquake is actually a friend of Onlyme's. They did an armwrestling movie together in 1983, and ran into each other on the set of a commercial in 87, where some amusing anectode to be told later was born. Also the two of them were training at the gym and they ran into the Barbarian Brothers and had a good laugh at what one of them said before shoulder pressing 660.

that was part of the amusing anecdote to be told at a later date.

I thought each decimal point was ten times worse so 2 would be 100 times worse than 1 but I could be mistaken. Last time I read about earthquakes was a long time ago so my facts could be skewed.

Power Rod is right, a 2 is ten times as bad as a 1.
-
correct. it is a logarithmic scale.
thankfully, CNN is reporting no fatalites so far.
Lets hope it stays that way

He's ok. I am sure its the mexican he had last night. :D

Apparently the power outages there are tremendous so if he is ok (and I hope he is) it isn't likely we will hear from him anytime soon.
-
Hey big bear hope everything is ok with you!

yea exponential.

You are correct. 1.2 is 10x worse than a 1.1
A 6.6 is fairly bad-the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989 in Santa Cruz, effected the entire San Francisco Bay Area. From the Cypress Freeway in Oakland, the Santa Cruz mountains, to the entire Marine District almost going underground. The Loma Prieta was a 7.2 I think.

Earthquake (John Tenta) Actually died of cancer a few months ago unfortunatly.

it goes by the 10th power, not times 10 like power rod said.

Worst area affected was Kailua Kona, where Keith is. We got power back on Oahu at around 4 pm.
-
Onlyme caused the earthquake by falling out of bed.

Ah you guys care about me. :) Anyway, man what a ride. Right in the middle of that puppy. The thing is here it was crystal clear out the whole day and hot as hell. Oahu was raining and ugly. We got our power up in a couple of hours. Oahu is still not fully up. The thing here was it did something to the cable comapny so we had no internet for awhile. Nothing big happened here excpet the hospital got some damage. It is really old. The roads on the other side (Hamakua) got fucked up. Allot fo rock slides. Waves were messy but the water was really nice and blue. My fridge ended up in the middle of my kitchen. All the stuff in the cupboards fells down. Pics on wals screwed up a little. But nothing serious. The thing most everyone here was worried about was the tsunami. I live right on the water and would be swimming if one came. It would be a madhouse if that happened. No one got hurt I think. No high rises are here. The tallest buildings are the hotels. What was funny was the people who live below me (I have a condo) thought I was dancing at first. They came out laughing their brains out. Anyway, it was a wild ride. I'm waiting for the volcano to blow. then we coudl be in trouble.
-
crazy! good to know it wasn't major.
-

Wrong.
its log10(x) ,so a one is 10,a two is 100 and so on.
By what you are saying a 0.X earthquake will be nothing since a number that is smaller then 1 that gets a power of 10 is close to zero.
Go learn some math retard.

Glad to hear you're ok. I don't post all that much but I do read the boards every day while I'm at work. The first thing that came to mind this morning, when I was driving in to work and heard the news was, Onlyme.

You're right, I just did a little research. Here is a quote from one of the sites I found information at.
"The Richter scale is a standard scale used to compare earthquakes. It is a logarithmic scale, meaning that the numbers on the scale measure factors of 10. So, for example, an earthquake that measures 4.0 on the Richter scale is 10 times larger than one that measures 3.0."

Glad to know you're ok, Keith. Thanks for the update.
LOL @ the neighbors thinking you were dancing ;)
