Not sure, everyone's different when it comes to assimilating protein.  I heard from someone that generally max protein intake in a meal should be around 1/3 lean body weight, so if your lean body mass is 180 lbs. then 60 grams of protein in a single sitting.

The absorption rate is also dependent on training, suplementing, age, juicing, etc. What I have read about this is that the human body, at its maximal absorption capacity can assimilate 70g. But this is a very hard number to achieve. 10 meals at 70 grams= 700g in 2 days! Has we know, this amount of ptotein needs at least 100g of carbs. If someone has this capability it doesn't need to juice at all!

yeah i'm using and i'm trying to have a little diet change up and was curious about it..i didnt want to waste it or smell like one big fart all day long if i didn't have to.  i'm thinking maybe even 4 shakes a day woudln't be overkill..i just mix it with water to prevent the clump ups.  weighing almost 240, taking in 300-400grams a day should be just right!

You're right, 20-40 is enough, but that doesn't mean you couldn't eat more than that in one setting.

take casein for instance, it's very slowy digested, so there won't be a problem to eat a lot of it.
BTW, any protein gets fully absorbed, or has anybody of you ever been shitting whey?
if you take in too much, it will be stored as fat, if you don't take enough, it will be burned for energy.

So the question of how much protein should i eat comes down to WHAT i eat throughout the day.
If you have fair amounts of slow carbs and some healthy fatty acids, you will be fine with 100-120g of protein per day in my opinion.

If you cut your carbs to diet down, it would be better to have slightly more protein to prevent the body from taking energy out of the muscles amino acid stores. so 150-180g will do fine.

i agree that there are many factors that influence protein needs.

if you look at your protein intake for the day it should be atleast 1g/lb.

some guys who have a higher metabloic rate need closer to 1.5g/lb.

and of course if you are on aas you should be in the 2g/lb range to take advantage of the increased protein synthesis.

as far as per meal i would just try to be in the range of 40g or higher per meal depending on what your daily requirement is....and make your highest protein meals your morning meal and your before bed meal.
