How many Iraqis are being tortured in Baghdad at present? Precise numbers are obviously in short supply on this one, but large numbers of bodies are found in and around the capital every single day, a result of the roiling civil war already under way there.
A variety of signs of torture found amongst the dead, including "gouged-out eyeballs, head, torso and hand wounds caused by power drills, broken bones of legs and hands, electric and cigarette burns ... acid-induced injuries and burns caused by chemical substances, missing skin. To extract information or admissions, children are being tortured in front of their parents."
The UN's chief anti-torture expert, Manfred Nowak, believes that torture in Iraq is now not only "totally out of hand" but "worse" than under dictator Saddam Hussein.

True, but it's still far better than what they have now. Authoritarian control is the only way to manage a country like Iraq. Bush was unbelievably shortsighted to think we could go in there and make democracy work.

Easy to say in hindsight; Hussein did everything to seem as guilty of being a threat as possible. Therefore, the alternative might not have been so pretty either if it had been true.

Yeah it would be, but he had the power of fear. Once he was gone and everyone started pillaging the government buildings and the US didn't have thr troops to do anything about it, the power of the insurgency started to grow and grow.

Yep and there was little or no terrorists in Iraq, no insurgency, no american deaths, no WMD's that mattered.......... Just him occassionally abusing his poeple like many other dictators around the world in places like darfur, n. korea, chillie, central america etc...

Excellent point. Clubber mentioned that earlier. All volunteer force. Stop pretending like these men and women are fighting against their will. Many of them joined while we were already at war.

Notice how you didn't answer the question. It doesn't matter if the soldiers volunteered, the question didn't pertain to whether or not they enlisted or were drafted.
In your opinion what is an acceptable number of deaths of US soldiers in Iraq or any other country whose regime rules by tyranny if we were to engage them?
