My normal cardio is sprint training, which I enjoy, but i've picked up an injury (shin splints) which is really pissing me off and I need to recover.
I can take iboprophen and the pain from the shin splints becomes minimal and allows me to do sprint training, I've been doing this for a month now and my injury has NOT improved what so ever because of this.
Now i'm gonna have to demote myself to a lower impact exercise for my cardio, so how does cycling on the stationary bike compare?
Do you do it so you go all out for 30 seconds, and then cycle at a moderate pace for 1 min and repeat?

Try a spinning class or video; bike HIT.

WTF? That sentance means nothing to me, are you implying you can do HIIT on a bike?

you're comparing apples and oranges bro....the bike (non spinning) is a lazy mans cardio IMHO

Spinning's the exception, it is rigorous. Otherwise, stationary bike's not as effective as other forms of cardio, is better as a complement to other forms.

Try 40 seconds all out - rest 20 seconds.
8-10 minutes of that, and you will be good.
If you want even more intensity, try 20 seconds work - 10 seconds rest. Do that for 4 minutes, no longer.
A nice mix would be 4 minutes of 40/20 and then finish with 2 minutes of 20/10.
Use extremely low resistance, and instead high cadence.

the treadmill is great, but it's over rated. i had the same splint pain as you and had to switch over to the recumbent bike the last month. when i made the switch, my body fat was already at 7%, and at the moment, i am just as lean, if not even leaner. i do 16 minutes of interval training, every morning after i have a big breakfast.

How long did it take you to recover from your shin splints?
It's got to the stage were they're just basically boring me >:( ruining my routine.
Do you know if any specific supplementation helps with shin splints?
I've increased my intake of calcium just incase I have stress fractures.

Over-rated i don't agree but it's much harder on the joints.

Seriously? Haha, fucking hell, i've been using it for a full month! My physique still resembles that of Thor tho! :P
I've just done a little research and you're right! God damnit! >:(

WOOO, what about Aspirin, does that have the same negative effects on muscle growth as ibuprofen?
