just wondering this why 99 percent of all pro bb dont' have children, for those few that are married? i'm not talking just about cutler, coleman, and the top 10 pros in the world, i'm talking even within the top 50 pros in the world.
reasons 1) pro bb is about me, me,me 2) not enough money to support a family unless you are a top 10 pro 3) not enough time to care and pay attention to 1 baby/child, much less more 4) perhaps certain side effects have left most of the pro's how should i say incapable of fathering children in the first place
i only know of dugdal and rusty jeffers who have kids, and i'm not even going to go with jeffers and his how should i say past and what he will tell his kids when they grown up, how daddy had another name he used and what daddy used to do for money! laugh
oh yeah, how come most of the pros women whether they are married or just thier girlfriends are not very attractive, gunter's new woman kim lyons being a very sole exception!

You appear eager to ask and answer your own questions. Bah!
Doom disapproves.

Cormier got kids...he got 'Bebe's Kids!'. He found a way to get baby momma drama so...

Like alot of "Career" minded people, the job and focus is way too over powering to consider "Sharing" and "Dividing" the attention to detail that comes with trying to be the best you can be.
That being said, there are exceptions, as in other professions but they are far and few between usually winding up in Divorce Court.
Reason being the sport is very Selfish and time consuming with regard to Personal needs.
I chose to wait due to Travel, Training and Singleminded Personal Goals.
5 years later in hindsight, i think it was the best choice I could make while on the other hand a guy like Mark Dugdale might say, the Marriage and Family were the Balance his life was missing and the timing while still competing was the best thing that could have happend to him.
Different Strokes ya'll.
-
I think it must be the hardest thing, Pro bbing and supporting a family at the same time. I wouldn't want to go through my childhood with my dad as a pro. He'd have to sit every 2 and half hours to eat, he'd never be home, People would be trashing him. :'(
-
Shawn, enlighten me...
Did you pull a lot of quality babes back in the day? You had the look at the style. Speak on this.
didn't he date brooke burke! my god she is incredably hot.

Block, ya gotta give us one of your patented Cormier cell phone conversations. "Baby boo, etc." LMAO

I was going to say the same thing.
Most people that are self absorbed...really don't want attention being focused somewhere else.

Does Darrem Charles have kids?
-
Has it ever occurred to you that not every single person on the planet wants kids? i am not saying every pro. but i can guarantee you there are some that just don't want kids.
-
I could see it. People make fun of Shawn's height, but he's still taller than most girls, and from my experience (also being a medium height dude @ 5'9), that's pretty much all girls really want. I couldn't see a 6'1 and 1/2 Paul Dillett getting more babes than Shawn.
Matt,
You are obsessed with which guys get the girls. Why is that?
Don't cha have any game?

What Shawn says is true. Let's examine TheBlockHead for a second...bare with me people it's to shine more light on Shawns theory.
TheBlockHead Himslef has only done 3 shows but has been living the lifestyle to it's fullest for the past 5 years. I mean to the FULLEST. My life revolves around my protein consumption and being in a positive nitrogen balance. I will never go pro nor would I ever imagine doing so...I just love this stuff and have fun prepping for a show and prepping others. ALL my money after important stuff is out of the way goes to groceries, and eating out constantly. Just last week...I bought a Swiss Army Watch...set me back about $80 and I had buyers remorse for about 2 days all over a punk ass watch...because I started to believe that $80 could have bought me a weeks worth of red meat and chicken breast and bag of potatoes and I almost brought it back.
I've been married a little over a year now and the #1 subject of fights between TheBlockHead and Mrs.Blockhead has to do with me never being home(training, tanning, training someone els, meeting up w/ someone els I'm prepping to see their progress for an upcomming show, picking up and dropping off and slingin gear, grocery shopping, eating out somewhere etc...) and my INABILITY to 'give and take' and compromise. NEVER, not even once in a while take another day off from the gym to do something with her...if there is a family function...I will absolutley REFUSE to go and Mrs. BlockHead is flying solo because "they" will only have hotdogs and hamburgers and beer over there...PLUS...I gotta meet so and so at the gym..."they're 3 weeks out...he/she needs me!"
When I am off work...I refuse to do ANYTHING outside my norm of pickup/deliveries, train, nap, tan, cook, eat, nap and be a slug on the couch or bedroom because..."I am regenerating and growing''. I am so on the go, go go all the time never stopping I can't even clean out my car because it's FILLED with gym clothes, tupperware everywhere, wrappers from protein bars, empty water bottles, crusty old shaker cups and resturaunt recipts and Subway plastic bags, weightbelts, magazines, old newspapers, wrist straps, spilled gym chalk and more tupperware.
I'm just a local NPC competitor in Chicagoland who hasn't even won his weight class yet and I'm having a hard time handling my life and marriage. I'd reckon in the higher levels of competition it's even WORSE and more difficult.
Most serious competitors I know are all divorcees and the ones that are married are in really disfunctional relationships. I read about guys like Dugdale and I don't know how he does it. I'm trying to keep it together but the 'spirit' of bodybuilding has got ahold of me and I don't know if I will defy the odds or become another statistic. Bb is my love and passion...but also my worst enemy.
-
Well said however, it is what you make of it.
Darrem has a great supportive wife and a Teenage son who is intelligent and bright!
Lee haney has raised two great kids with the oldest playing football at Citidale.
Vince Taylor, Flex Wheeler, Mike Christian all had kids while being on top of their game!
It's not for everyone but it is a way of life until something more important like Family, Kids and Love come along and throw you in another direction.
For me, "Life" began when I stopped competing and focusing on myself and turned my focus toward my wife and kid.
Peace,
S

I agree with all, I have a daughter, but my ex never supported it. I retired from her presure at the peak of my game. After getting a divorce, I am back. Two years into it.
anyway, I should have waited to get married. It never works.

Even better said, Shawn.
I like your plot twist of how 'life' began AFTER the BB days were over. I always say one of my biggest fears is my life AFTER BB. I feel like I am institutionalized. I wouldn't EVEN know how to wake up and NOT be on a militant on the clock live by the watch schedule. I wouldn't know how to exist by blending in with a crowd...how could I exist without abs...and arms like mine...and a physique like mine.
How did you do it, Shawn? Did you have to 'cope'? Was it a mindfuck? To shrink...lose size and cuts...to NOT eat constantly...shit, to eat off a dinner plate instead of out of tupperware. How does a BB keep the inside of their car clean???

wow extreamly honest and close look at commitment to your choice. I respect your drive and desire but am amazed at your life. It seems like your almost a prisioner to your desire. I have always worked to the best of my ability with the thought process of "hobby" in the back of my mind. Good luck with your choice, Its nice to see someone respond honestly and not another bunch of crap.

So Blockhead, basically you are a prisoner to lifting and eating and resting. You can't eat at a restaurant or over a friends house because you can't control what is prepared. You won't participate in any sports because it may cause you to lose mass even if it only happens in your head. If someone is enjoying some junkfood you only watch them eat it. You can't miss a workout out for anything otherwise you feel like you lost all your gains even if its only one workout. Sounds like you have obsessive compulsive traits and having a routine and structure suits you. Its a double edged sword. That kind of compulsiveness certainly helps you by never caving in to being too lazy to train or eating like shit, but it also can hurt you by not compromising under any circumstance.

Does Darrem Charles have kids?
I think he does.
I saw some video of his, where he was giving a tour of his home, and I saw at least one kid.

The Pro lifestyle doesn't lend itself to having children.
It's not really the environment you want kids around, IMO.
Plus, many bodybuilders are strictly in to women for sex, not relationships.
Many bodybuilders are gay.
I'm sure a few of them are sterile from staying on cycle concurrently for years...
There are plethora of reasons why bodybuilders don't have kids.
Some bodybuilders aren't the most mentally stable people, and them not having kids is probably a good idea.

Spend some time thinking more long term + why you are doing what you r doing.
Many surgeons have seen their marriages + lives disintegrate because of their obsessive love of operating.
Ditto for businessmen + making $$$$$$.
Good luck.

garraeth,
Straight up I was thinking about doing that...'Seattle Sutton' is a nationwide chain I think but anyway they offer that program. I was seriously thinking about it. I'll look more in to it because I'll be prepping for a show in May of 07 by Feburary so it might be worth looking at.
bmacy's...you're close but no cigar. I'm not competing so it's not too much of an issue to have a few slices of pumpkin pie or half a box of sugar free Nilla Wafers with milk at night when I'm watching a movie...It's the BB lifestyle is such a part of me I don't know what it's like to not buy 'sugar free' or 'low carb' or 'reduced fat' or to just simply NOT think and analyze every single thing I put in my mouth and how it will affect my physique tomorrow or the next day. My main goal in the BB world is to win my weight class in a local show...qualify for nationals and get on a national stage...once. Just so I can say I did it. Then again...I'm so fkn nutty if I do get to taste that expierence I might want to keep getting up on that stage and go farther and farther. I'm a peddle to the metal kind of guy and I'm the kind of guy that doesn't know the meaning of the word 'die'. I never say it.
I think most honest serious BB's have the same kind of struggles like I am spilling out here...I know Shawn can relate. Rhino could...those who cannot...probably never competed and never will.
-
I wonder what percentages of male bbr's has kids vs female bbr's.
I would have to say there's probably more male bbr's that start a family & have kids vs the females.

Thanks, doc! I know why I do this...it's because I refuse to look like everybody els and I love looking and being just a little bit different not to mention...I genuinely love to train and push myself and see what I'm made of come contest time.
I'm not that bad actually...I know guys who make me look like Ned Flanders. I know BB's...locals, never won a weight class who don't even hold a job down and refuse to work and live like vagabons, nickle/diming gear and using 'thier girlfriends' car and bumming money and food off whoever will give it to them because they can't let a pesky day job hold them back. I'm telling ya!
I hold a fulltime job down and always have. PLUS...I want more out of life but make no mistakes about it...BB will have a spot in my life somewhere and somehow. After my competition days are over...I want to prep and guide competitors or write for some entity somewhere or somehow.

oh yeah, how come most of the pros women whether they are married or just thier girlfriends are not very attractive, gunter's new woman kim lyons being a very sole exception!
golden rules for a bodybuilder inorder to keep a hot woman for life:
1. always control your woman past the initial 3-6 months falling inlove period. be in control! she gotta know youre the man and she is the woman,,even if on the outside youre a feminist ;) let her have her time but she always gotta know that youre the final say. especially if she is AMERICAN!
2. train her from the beggining to go get groceries and also get her to cook at times even if shes young and hot. . inject it to them slowly during the initial 6 months. you must train them to do it,,,otherwise they will always be lazy bitches think the world evolve around them.... dont get scared because she is pretty and have perky boobies,,bubble butt and few other guys want her,,she wont go nowhere if you know how to handle her. hot women are very insecure and will do anything for the guy who knows how to handle them.
3. its exteremly hard to find a girl that takes all the shit we do. she got to be uniqe! she got to be giving! she got to be single with no kids! and she cant be fake! the industry is full of fake hoes,,stay away from them,,,they will never make a good girlfriend. stay loyal! to the girl who loves you,,,do not play around with the industry's bimbos.
4. she cant and shouldnt adore muscle and size. if she want you for your body,,,fuck her once and throw her from the third floor window
5. NEVER! beat her up. saying youre fat/getting fat or saying bitch is one thing,,,raising your hand will make her leave you forever.
-
I DISAGREE with everything you said, gh. Well...almost.
Bottom line is THIS: Treat a woman with genuine respect and make her feel like an equal...she will HATE your guts and be so bored with you she'll slit your throat and go fuck the first no job having pot smoking loser zero thug who abuses her behind your back.
Treat a woman like a BITCH...they will fight for your affection and worship the ground you walk on.

8 meals/day 6 days/week. Gave her my list with measurements (for example: Meal 1: 1/2 cup ground oatmeal mixed in 1 meal replacement with 16oz water + liquid creatine + 5mg glutamine. Meal 2: 1 chicken breast, 1/2 cup rice, 2 tbl spoons Flackseed oil). She mixes it all up and delivers 3 days worth at a time.
Awesome.
I'm in the exact same situation, except all my meals are lovingly prepared by my girlfriend... she makes my meals twice a week, on wed. and sat's :) :) :) :)

I respect what you're saying there BLockhead. In my case, much like Garreath I went the career route first putting bodybuilding on the shelf for a couple of years came out at 26 with a MS in Computer Science but looking like a shit. Took me 3 years to bounce back from it. Now I have the financial resources and very limited time. But even at 120k+ in income, huge part of it goes into BB. But I'm getting results.
That being said,I'm way to selfish to think about kids even close to my 30's with a giant girlfriend with the biological clock that goes "TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK".... 8)

Did you pull a lot of quality babes back in the day? You had the look at the style. Speak on this.
I remeber Shawn was on some talk show - Opra, Montel, or one of those as one of the "best catches for a single person" so I guess dude got his fair share of hot ass 8)

Has it ever occurred to you that not every single person on the planet wants kids? i am not saying every pro. but i can guarantee you there are some that just don't want kids.
Like me and my wife. I could be in a different sport, like poker or fart blowing and still not want kids, who knows????
Maybe all the juice makes their jizz like dishwater and they end up shootin' blanks LOL
-
Tom,
tons of IFBB pros have kids. u r a douche bag.
hope this helps
-
Most pros are so self absorbed that the thought of a kid spitting up his Gerber on the gym bag, or toddler hand prints on the mirror would send them into a panic/frenzy.
The others are gay.

I DISAGREE with everything you said, gh. Well...almost.
Bottom line is THIS: Treat a woman with genuine respect and make her feel like an equal...she will HATE your guts and be so bored with you she'll slit your throat and go f**k the first no job having pot smoking loser zero thug who abuses her behind your back.
Treat a woman like a BITCH...they will fight for your affection and worship the ground you walk on.
Although said a bit too harsh, it is kinda true. I also found that women like to be dominated. Not that you have to treat her like shit and kick her 'round the house, but they wanna feel that confidence and strength. And those women who argue otherwise are either lying or haven't grown up yet.
I think it doesn't matter what man does, as long as he is confident, goal-oriented, and keeps his cool, women will admire that.

just wondering this why 99 percent of all pro bb dont' have children, for those few that are married? i'm not talking just about cutler, coleman, and the top 10 pros in the world, i'm talking even within the top 50 pros in the world.
reasons 1) pro bb is about me, me,me 2) not enough money to support a family unless you are a top 10 pro 3) not enough time to care and pay attention to 1 baby/child, much less more 4) perhaps certain side effects have left most of the pro's how should i say incapable of fathering children in the first place
i only know of dugdal and rusty jeffers who have kids, and i'm not even going to go with jeffers and his how should i say past and what he will tell his kids when they grown up, how daddy had another name he used and what daddy used to do for money! laugh
oh yeah, how come most of the pros women whether they are married or just thier girlfriends are not very attractive, gunter's new woman kim lyons being a very sole exception!
pardon my ignorance what did old Rusty do?? gay for pay or something?

I think Mustafa is married and has three kids.

WOW, this is both fascinating AND extremely sad :'(
All of this for a trophy, not even any cash prizes. I'd say some re prioritizing is in order.

Classic BB blockhead. No one else finds this self-absorbtion interesting-allocate a little time each week to getting away & outside of the dogma or start interviewing divorce lawyers. You're the problem, from what's been described.
Excellent dude-a Getbig instant classic for the refrigerator! ::)
golden rules for a bodybuilder inorder to keep a hot woman for life:
1. always control your woman past the initial 3-6 months falling inlove period. be in control! she gotta know youre the man and she is the woman,,even if on the outside youre a feminist let her have her time but she always gotta know that youre the final say. especially if she is AMERICAN!
2. train her from the beggining to go get groceries and also get her to cook at times even if shes young and hot. . inject it to them slowly during the initial 6 months. you must train them to do it,,,otherwise they will always be lazy bitches think the world evolve around them.... dont get scared because she is pretty and have perky boobies,,bubble butt and few other guys want her,,she wont go nowhere if you know how to handle her. hot women are very insecure and will do anything for the guy who knows how to handle them.
3. its exteremly hard to find a girl that takes all the shit we do. she got to be uniqe! she got to be giving! she got to be single with no kids! and she cant be fake! the industry is full of fake hoes,,stay away from them,,,they will never make a good girlfriend. stay loyal! to the girl who loves you,,,do not play around with the industry's bimbos.
4. she cant and shouldnt adore muscle and size. if she want you for your body,,,f**k her once and throw her from the third floor window
5. NEVER! beat her up. saying youre fat/getting fat or saying bitch is one thing,,,raising your hand will make her leave you forever.

Some good posts there by Blockhead, Shawn and Sami.
I myself used to be like that - I gave my whole life to bodybuilding for at least ten years before I realised that I was never going to acheive my dream of becoming a pro-bodybuilder. There was only so much gear I could afford and food to put in my stomach.
Then I met my future wife and my outlook changed after that - I realised I will only have one life and life is for living - not for being a prisoner to the gym and the diet and the drugs. I found myself wanting to travel the world and seek out new opportunitues - I wll always have a good physique because I still do train but if I miss a meal now or even a workout I don't bitch about it - I just get on with other things.
Don't be a victim of the bodybuilding lifestyle - thats when it becomes very damaging indeed.

Most true of all true posts that were ever posted.
Thanks, player...I'm learning. I'm trying to break loose just a little bit from the clutches of BB. It's too bad that I actually ENJOY it. Take BB away from me and I still would much rather spend my free time lounging and watching movies. I never been to a club and never go to bars...hardly ever. I live very austere anyway. I have to keep reminding myself that the world doesnt revolve around me staying in a positive nitrogen balance...at all times.

Amen brother! Societies pressures....to hell with 'em! I do not want children and people look at me like I'm selfish and irresponsible- maybe I am selfish- so what? But for others(always those with kids) to tell me how irresponsible I am really pisses me off- I, in fact, am making a very responsible decision to not have children- too many people have children who maybe did'nt want them- guess who suffers???? Misery loves company! haha

TRAPPED INSIDE THE CULT!

Thanks Anabolic Outlaw...you gave me a book at the ASC 3 yrs ago. I stood out in the cold with you and told you that I was Born Again. I am. I'm down w/ Christ and I roll with him. I make no secret about that.
I have nothing to do with the occult. I don't even look at 'astrology' or horoscopes in the paper 'for fun' cuz I know better. I once found a quijja board in my brothers gf's car and me and him broke it, stomped on it and burnt it on an alley without question.
I do use gear so I guess that's 'sorcery' right? Through it all...i don't condemm anyone to hell because we're ALL sinners...just like you, right?
-
you sound extremely bitter.
Are you suggesting that a huge bb pushed Tom's face in the dirt, then had sex with his girlfriend who then gave birth to said bb's child and now Tom is raising the bastard child while the bb who abandoned the child and Tom's girlfriend, moves on to his next phase of selfish bb training and the next skinny victim (like Tom) leaving Tom an embittered puddle of depression and a shell of his former self who's unable to look himself in mirror and feel like a man anymore?
