Flex on Ronnie
In the years since you retired, have you gotten the urge to jump onstage again to do battle with Coleman and the rest of the guys?
WHEELER: I know in my heart that if I were the force I was before I had to abruptly leave the sport ... bro, I would have won a couple of Olympias by now--or at least Ronnie and I would be going back and forth, slugging it out, like in a brutal UFC [Ultimate Fighting Championship] fight. I have no doubt. And I have no doubt that it would be just me and him. I mean, where it's
him separated from everyone else down here on planet Earth, it would be me and him slugging it out. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I have no doubt. If you don't believe me, just go back to the old pictures and put them up against anybody competing today.
Hulkster what do you think of Flex saying he could OWN some of Ronnie's Sandows? lol
-
Flex 100% on the money, not losing ground from his kidney ailment (like 93 Olympia) could beat ANYONE IMO.
-
assuming they were both on, it would be close.
Flex would have the advantage in aesthetics to a slight degree
Ronnie would have a huge advantage in width.
Personally, given the judges preoccupation with physical size and width, I don't think they would have given Flex the win over Ronnie assuming both were in great shape.
IF flex had lats and a little more size he would have been basically perfect.
but then again, IF Ronnie had better abs and calves, so would he.

Ronnie easily. Bigger, denser, drier, wider, and on and on.

Hulkster if Flex was on he could have easily beat Ronnie 2001/2002 and I posted that because you always bitch about my Flex quotes being out of date lol you can't bitch now.

yes, Ronnie was off in the 01 and 02 Olympias.
he was way off
-
if Dorian could beat a 93 Flex, there is no doubt Ronnie would beat a 93 Flex. The only way Flex might have dethroned him would be if Ronnie was "off" (like in 2002). If Ronnie was "on" then Flex wouldn't have stood a chance.

I agree. Ronnie carries much more quality muscle.
But Flex did have amazing bone structure, So that ALMOST makes it even. If Ron was a little off and Flex nailed it, he could win.

with flex at his best, you are saying that it would be close.
i assume you mean with flex at his best -1993.
dorian EASILY beat flex in 93.
???

dorian EASILY beat flex in 93.
exactly, so aesthetics wouldn't matter. Now factor in Ronnie who weighed 30 more lbs than Dorian. I don't understand why Flex says it would have been close between him and Ronnie. The only way Flex could hope to beat him would be if Ronnie came in less than 90%.

Just because he won doesn't mean he was the better man. Christmas came in October for Dorian.
-
Flex was certainly NOT at his best at the 93 Olympia.
see the hams in the pic I posted on Flex from the Arnold Classic?
not visible at all at the olympia that year. Same with the glutes.
Even his arms, while good at the olympia were a lot more detailed at the Arnold Classic that year.
Flex was a softer version of his 93 AC physique at the Olympia that year.

Factor in Ronnie at 287lbs wasn't as dry as Yates , and that would matter.

Flex was the victim of to many contests in 93 ( can't blame him ) but 93 ASC and 93 Ironman he was better than the Olympia.

very true, but the guy competed almost 10 years after that and was never again able to reach that same level of conditioning... while 03 ronnie broke new ground... plus with flex in the mix who's to say ronnie wouldve continued to grow like he did... preparing to stand next to Jay is totally different then prepping for flex... break it down and you'll find that flex had better calves and abbs.... but other then that ronnie had him crushed... I AM A HUGE FAN OF FLEX WHEELERS body, if i could look like anyone ever, itd be him... but one of ronnies pecs is the size of flexes entire upper half

TOP TEN FEATS FLEX WHEELER WOULD HAVE ACCOMPLISHED IF NOT FOR HIS ILLNESS
1. Won Gold Medal in Karate at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games.
2. Won the UFC Heavyweight Championship by knocking out Randy Couture in 23 seconds.
3. Starred in 'Revenge of the Ninjas' and won an Oscar for newly created 'Best Original Makeup Story' category.
4. Registered and developed "Flex.com" into multi-million dollar empire replete with 1998 IPO netting him 14.8 Million.
5. Started "Flex Wheeler Nutrition" and made millions before selling company to Rexall for a cool 17 million.
6. Starred as "Flexo Siffredi" in a series of porn movies with fitness stars, culminating in a AVN Award for Best Anal Scene.
7. Not to sound cocky, but he would have beaten Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 2003 California gubernatorial race or at the very least, the election would have "gone back and forth like a UFC Championship Fight".
8. Would have patented "submuscular calf implants" and won Nobel Prize for research in the field of "skinny calves".
9. Assassinated Osama Bin Laden during late 2000 private tent "posing session" with camel in Islamabad, Afghanistan.
10. Sued "Flex Magazine" and Joe Weider for profiting off his name without compensating him appropriately.
Special "Flexual Dysfunction" Ed

Yes, Flex at his best (and oil free hopefully) would have won the 2001 and 2002 Olympia.
-
After this coment of Flex. I just feel that Flex is the biggest coward, ass hole and cry baby.
Flex without striated glutes and hams will never beat Ronnie and Cutler.

This is almost his best condition but what happen to his glutes and hams?
And too thin to beat Ronnie and Cutler

It's worse then TA or Triple V ;D

Well, at least Flex can be considered as having been a bodybuilder. ;D ;D
-
in his dreams.
1. guy had more oil and nolotil in his muscle than any other pro card holder i have ever seen. very artifical look.
2. guy worked like a pussy (jason does NOT work like pussy but ken did) and was simply not big enough
3. he was sick long before he quit. you dont win nothing when you walk around with out of order kidny
he was cooked way before he retired,,his kidny was already cooked when he made up the story about doing the o "clean"...was a big liar too. dont like that guy much as you can tell ;)
-
very true, but the guy competed almost 10 years after that and was never again able to reach that same level of conditioning...
Flex was able to duplicate it at the 97 Arnold, except he had less traps than he did in 93. His 95 condition at the Arnold was good well. It was said if he came in at the 98 O like his 98 Arnold condition (232 shredded), he would have won the show
in his dreams.
1. guy had more oil and nolotil in his muscle than any other pro card holder i have ever seen. very artifical look.
That was in 99, not 93-98, as was said before Flex got desperate, think about it Flex was coming in at 242 pounds, way too heavy, because it was not gradually added on. Flex i believe might have won one, but as was stated earlier, preparing for Flex is diff than preparing for Jay. WIth Jay, Ron had to be big, freaky, and conditioned, with Flex, Ron had to have a more pleasing physique, while maintaining conditioning, and beating Flex's key bodyparts--arms, double cross striated quads, and back detail.
-
Factor in Ronnie at 287lbs wasn't as dry as Yates , and that would matter.
ND, I respect and like you man, but that is not true. In 2003, it is plainly evident that except for slightly more abd distension in transition, Ronnie would defeat Yates on all fronts. You claim he was not as dry, my eyes deceive me. The man was sliced and had infinitely better lines. Sucky is also highly intelligent, but I disagree about a 2003 Coleman losing the symmetry round. In that year, he flowed better than any year except 1998/1999. Even you have admitted that his lines were better ND. Thus, I believe Ronnie would at least tie the symmetry round (and likely win it), and he would easily win the muscularity round. BTW, Flex of the 1993 Arnold would have not been defeated by perfect 5's if that version showed up to the Olympia.
-
Another from that year...he was otherworldly in his size and conditioning. The man was easily as tight as Yates any year but 1993. However, he was thirty pounds heavier. Tough to be that large and keep that kind of conditioning. That is why I felt the last time he was truly on (2005), he was mid 270's. His body could not take it anymore, and he made an egregious mistake this year trying to duplicate that size and shape.
-
Dorian was incredible in 1992/1993 and 1995. In 1992, he would have lost simply because he was 240 pounds or so. In 1993, his best chance to defeat the 2003 version of Coleman, he may have been a tad drier, but he was thirty pounds lighter. His advantages in all mandatories, except the ab/thigh were consequently moot. Could he have won, definitely; I have agreed with that position the whole thread. I personally feel the judges would go for the size and conditioning, not to mention better taper and shape of Ronnie. Regardless, the show would have been a war. In 1995, although larger, he had the torn bodyparts and would have lost badly to someone with near equal conditioning, better size and rounder muscle bellies. Once again, my opinion. Flex would have been decimated.
-
from that recent clip somebody posted, you can see that they are vastly different body types, both amazing physiques, but it is like comparing apples and oranges. From that video clip I would say that Coleman does have the ascetically pleasing physique, but is is sooo subjective, it is really what the individual thinks looks better.
-
If he was able to keep improving. I think he had maxed out his potential in much the way Cutler has. Clearly using synthol was proof he wasn't able to gain any additional muscle mass on his own. Being as shredded as can be at 220 would not save him from a 280 Ronnie either, no matter how pretty his lines were.
I those youtube clips that show him and Ronnie battling in 1999, Is it just me or did Flex have the strangest looking rear delts ever - they look like a 1980's suite with shoulder pads !!
-
Flex was awesome...too bad about the oil & bad work ethic though....
-
Flex could have beaten Ronnie in 98 - I didn't see anything particularly wrong with his physique but as for the other years, Ronnie was by far the better physique on the day so I don't know what Flex is on about.
Sometimes I think that guy thinks he's a legend in his own mind.

Ronnie in 2003. a new standard for back thickness and width was set, and by a wide margin.

That's what I call a champ.
