According to the MGM chief operating officer Rick Sands, the new Terminator films will be reinvented. Sands revealed this week that the studio is now searching for a new star to headline the next "Terminator" movie, according to Variety.
"It's like the "Batman" or "Superman" franchise in that it lends itself to having different actors in the roles," he said, adding that the film will not be called "Terminator 4".

remakes sequels are a better cash grab than rolling the dice on a new idea

T2 was largely a copy of the orginal with a few new ideas & larger budget.

Slade Wilson is the original Terminator!

naah man they cannot remake those legendary terminator movies..i don't think so they could replace arnold 2 more times with the same scripts..i don't see no point to remake those movies.i don't see this happening.dude there are doubts of making t4 so how come they reinvent the whole series
-
who's gonna play arnold? Colin Farrel?

I don't know. This is just an article I copied 'n paste from a website. Something I thought people wanted to read.

That would be the end of action movies.

nobody has an original idea these days

I agree. nobody has an original idea these days.

Colin Farrell should play the guy that Michael Biehn played in the original - they look pretty alike.

Kyle Reese.... but I don't see him playing that character.

But some remakes do quite well, no? Batman Begins, Superman Returns, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre [2004 version]....
-
I always thought the first movie was by far the best. The two sequals weren't hardcore and gritty like T1. That and the plots were inferior.
-
It's too early to remake the film anyway - it was made in 1984 and still looks half decent even by today's standards of CGI effects. And who would you get to play the Terminator?
-
The funny thing about it is that the orginal was low-budget. Good movies don't have to require that much money. Schwarzenegger lucked out with an unknown director who took him to the next level from the level of B-level Conan action movies.
The sequel was just as good; much of it was the same idea with a couple of new twists added and good F/X.
The studios have an overall problem in coming up with decent movies.

I bet they wouldn't have him X out 17 cops in the police station like in the real T1. Too un-PC.
-
there were explosives in that police station i saw squibbs >:(

That happened decades ago with no one shot to death in T2 and a woman in T3.
-
My point is that if they remade the original, I'd put money down that they somehow avoid the cop killing scene. whether skipping it, using some sort of disable technique (the murderous T1 suddenly decides to use knockout gas hahahaha), etc.

Already done, 15 years ago-in T2 he deliberately wounded all the cops, bowing to PC concerns.

True, but AS was the good guy in that movie, and yes, it was PC.
the question is, will they rewrite the original T1 script? If most of the movie is the same, except he "knocks out" all the cops, I'll be pretty disappointed.

What guy - the frog?
-
Instead of doing the back in time shit again they should concentrate on the wars with the machines in the future
-
you were the same type of guy that was telling arnold "you talk weird", "your body is weird",
don't you haters ever get tired of being "that guy" that told people they couldn't do it?

Those people were just fuel to Arnold's fire. Look where he's at.... 8)

How do you only wound somebody when you are shooting them with a .50 caliber machine gun?

I'm guessing they would eliminate this problem by bypassing the police station issue. Wusses.
i agree tho, more of the future stuff would be pretty damn cool.

The scene in the police station was maybe the most riveting part of the movie. The screams were so realistic. They gotta have that scene in the movie if it gets remade.

Precision shooting. He's got the 'mind' of a computer.

Each time he fired a pistol he aimed at the leg, and the character was told not to kill anyone, all for PC purposes after he became famous. Firing the machine gun it was assumed it was at cars; no one was shown on screen as having been killed.
I don't see the point of a remake given that most aren't nearly as good as the original excepting a few like T2. Better to just find ways to make better movies-the storylines are nothing profound. Terminator is a stock idea from science fiction.
