Title: HIT principle VS. MAX- OT principle.
Post by: Your MAAAAaaaa on November 01, 2006, 10:47:19 AM
Having been a HIT trainer for years I have switched to Max-OT.

My question is why does Mentzer advocate forced reps and the Max-ot strictly says not to?

Is there any science to back either of these theories up?

I used to do forced reps to reach the "break over point" but now following this routine obviously i'm not and it feels kind of weird.

What do you think?

I would think it was because max-ot focuses on natural guys.  I don't think Metzer wrote specifically for a natural guy.  Forced reps using this routine would lead to over-training for the average natural guy.  That would be my guess.

Thanks at least someone can give a civil answer!

why not give it a try..i'm sure you'll see SOME results just because you've used HIT for so long, the MAX-OT would hafta produce something just from the change up. yanno?  ???

Forced reps have no place in overload training...

Read the entire protocol, it explains why.

Sure...in moderation they can help.

nothing wrong with a few at the end of your last set but i see too many people doing sets of forced reps and that is not the point.

say you are doing Incline DB press...it's your last set and you get 8 solid reps with no help, THEN your spotter can help you crank out a few extras but keep it to a minimum.

this is my opinion of course...

I am doing MAx-ot and getting good results.

HIT has worked for me but I felt I needed a change after HST (which i tried first) I thought of MAx OT.

The results are good as with any change in Traing generally, but what I have noticed most is the strength gains.

I just wondered if there were differing scientific explanations thats all, but I have to admit I am yet to finish reading the entire protocol.

Ya..use em intensely, but in moderation.
