Title: the myth
Post by: Cavalier22 on November 03, 2006, 04:19:40 PM
People, especially on the left, always bring up that most in the US military are poor and uneducated, and that minorities were overrepresented. This is just not the case.

"Like their peers in 1999 and 2003, recruits in 2004 and 2005 came primarily from middle-class areas. Poor areas are proportionally underrepresented in the wartime years (2003–2005)."

I'm surprised you've allowed your government to continue the syphoning of taxpayer funds from healthcare, education and infrastructure to support this travesty this long.

Consider the complete restruction of public schools and restructuring of problem areas that could've been done with all that money spent.

It's a bit fascinating, really.

do you really think that money would have went to the poorest areas if it wasnt spenton the military industrial complex?  no, it wouldnt.  taxes would have been lowered.

Cause people are stupid.

All we Americans can do is collect our own nest egg.

The govt will not take care of your children's education (pub school system is horrible), health care, or retirement needs.  You're on your own there.  But, those working in govt today will have a nice retirement plan.  Bush, for instance, just bought a 100,000 acre patch of land in Paraguay to retire to, once 911 comes out and he ain't too popular here.  He's no dummy.  He knows America is going to be in some shitty shape down the road.
