Title: For the Coffee Drinkers out there
Post by: darksol on November 08, 2006, 02:46:18 PM
I recently upgraded my kitchen with a new espresso machine.  I did a lot of research and found the the best one was the Rancilio Silvia.  So being the cheep ass I am, I hit ebay in search of a deal.  I would think that these machines would depreciate alot over time, and I was wrong, they hold their value like a Ferrari.  But I came accross a fellow selling them for $440 each brand new.  Usually you have to pay at least $500 for one of these bad boys.  So I bought one and I have never been happier.  It makes my Espresso quick, and perfect.  I will never goto starbucks again.  It has a stainless steel construction. the whole thing weighs 30 lbs.  It is truely a mans espresso machine.  If anyone wants to get one of these email Daniel cronos1247@aol.com )  Tell him you want one of the $440 Silvias.  If you live in the houston area you can pick up one from him at their location ( $440 is final price, all taxes included ).

yeah this one is not as easy or clean as the nespresso machines.  But I believe they do have an adapter to support the pre packed deals.  I just like the feedom to make mine as strong or as weak as I like, by grinding my own beans.  Plus its a little cheaper too.

after reading this
Begin with consuming roughly 20-30 grams of high GI carbohydrates, preferable glucose, which is also known as dextrose. This will cause a small insulin spike that will help to get the creatine across the cell membranes more effectively, where it is usable by your body. You can also take some Taurine with the creatine to help maximize the results. After you have consumed this "boost" combination it's time to prepare the creatine. The best way to do this is to mix your creatine in boiling hot water (about 100 degrees Celsius. Don't worry, creatine degrades at 303 degrees Celsius). When it has solved itself, you can add some cold water to the solution to make it drinkable. This will help to dissolve the creatine properly during digestion. Please keep in mind that creatine is stable in powder form. Once mixed in liquid, the mixture must be consumed within 48 hours or the waste product creatinine develops, making the creatine quite useless.

I got an idea.
What if I loaded creatine into my espresso machine.
Has anybody tried this?

unless you buy one of the $30 steam driven ones at target.  My wife sold it in a garage sale, and she was only able to get $5 for it.  If you buy a high quality one they last a pretty long time and keep their value.

It is probably a good idea! I will try it, not with coffe, because I am alergic to coffe, but with decaff.

This has nothing to do with the machines, and a lot of people might know this already, but apparently coffee, even decaf, has about ten times more antioxidants than Green Tea. Of course, I believe that is before they roast the coffee when the beans are still green. Although, I just read, I think it was in Muscle & Fitness, that there is a company (and I'm sure there's others) that have figured out how to roast the beans w/o losing all the antioxidants.

The only negative thing I've heard about caffeine is becuz it is a diuretic, it washes all the nutrients out of your system. This is b.s. But, apparently it might be true for calcium. But, I have no idea what calcium is good for for BBers, except strong bones.

Awesome knowledge.  I will use that to validate my 3 extra large cups of espresso each day :D
