Well, I did and wound up in hospital with pericarditis.
The doc said in rare cases physical exertion can force the viral infection (like a cold) into your heart and the fluid surrounding your heart can increase and put pressure on your heart and in some cases die.
I had a cold. Felt better and went to the gym. 3 days later I woke up in agony, felt like an elephant was standing on my chest. Went for a piss, and collapsed on the way back. Got up and told my uncle, he called the ambulance, went to emergency and injected me with something. Felt better, all good and gone.
Apparently, you only get it once. My mum had a student that died of it. Wish it upon no-one, thought I was having a heart attack.

HOLY SHITSKIES BATMAN! GOOD TO HEAR U R OK! I HAD A FRIEND THAT HAD SOMETHING SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU HAD. (HE HAD ENDOCARDITIS. HE TOO WAS IN THE HOSPITAL.) ONLY, HIS WAS NOT REALLY LIFE THREATENING.

Thanx, Im fine now. As soon as they gave me a shot, I was fine.
Had it over a year ago. I never train unless Im over or just over a cold.
So be careful next time you think of training with a cold.

Man i had cold the other week, went to train legs and had good session as i was determined to up weights and sweat it out of me. Glad u wer ok.

When I was in high school, the entire wrestling team got the flu. So the coach had all of us doing tons of sprints and calisthenics trying to sweat in out of us. In retrospect, its hard to say whether it helped or hurt. It was a hellish experience to be sure, working out when sick.

I've always heard/read that you shouldn't push yourself too hard if you're feeling under the weather... But that's F#CKED UP! I'll definitely think twice next time I feel sick!
Though, since taking a small dose of Glutamine, every single morning without fail, I haven't been sick in over 2 years! (knock on wood!)

Ive always heard if its just a head cold its ok to train. I do it acutally loosens it up. But if you have a lot of phlegm in your chest ie a cough don't train. And dont train with the flu

I once trained arms with a mid-swing cold.
It was last winter.
Although I’m sure it was psychological, my strength output on close-grips was better than usual. The rest of the workout was pretty decent, too. I probably was just more determined and put forth a greater effort.
Like davie, I thought I could speed the fever break and sweat it out of me, so I did cardio the next day as well. I think it worked, but it may have been a placebo effect (the cold may have just naturally worked its course by that time).
Since then, I’ve read several reports of cases like yours.
You know more about this than I do…
Do you know if there’s a greater risk with cardio vs. weights, or does it even matter?
