That's funny.......because I always saw Cormier as a Nelly type rap listener.
Dre would seem to be too "gangsta" for him. ;)

That's all true, of course......
Dr. Dre did get punked while Ice Cube went on to a solo career...
But Dre puts out better music than most of the rap you hear today...
The Dirty South turned rap music in to pop music......

I will agree to an extent about the dirty south turning it pop (i.e. Nelly, Ludacris)
but the dirty south keeps it nitty gritty too, I have trouble seeing anything Cash Money being seen as pop.
-
he is a "studio gangster", yes...but dr. dre has made some prettty good songs. all of the chronic 2001 album is clean.

Crunk is not rap music and should not be categorized as such....
The South is just very cornball when it comes to most of the rap they have put out....
They idolize 2Pac, but he'd laugh at them with the type of music they put out....
Outside of Scarface........who else from the South has done anything that wasn't pop?

What rappers today don't idolize 2Pac? That said there is no one and arguably never has been anyone who is on 2Pac's level as far as a rapper, lyricist, poet, and artist.
I just feel that doing being features on songs with N'Sync, Jagged Edge and Tim McGraw is what makes a rapper pop. If you stay clear of that fag shit your clean. Even if all your rhymes are about Bitches, Drugs, and Whips

I think most of the South is garbage, but I do give props to Young Jeezy (Atlanta) Thug Motivation 101 is a classic in my opinion, but all that Lil Jon, Crunk, laffy taffy bullshit is played out

I just hit cormier on the nextel but got the voicemail.
C-note, hang up on the freak and answer your phone. Don't make me stop the igf antibiotics train from stopping at your C-side rental next week.

You need to learn more about southern rap before you talk shit about it, I mean come on don't tell me you don't know about UGK the kings of da south.

Jezzy is the shit, I expect more great shit to come from him but don't forget there is way more to southern rap then what you see on T.V. and hear on the radio.

Luda is not Pop, hell when Oprah criticizes you, that just don't seem "Pop" to me.
As far as Cash Money, they have too many "sing-song" songs, like Rappers trying to sing. Make up your damn mind, Before in the 90's R &B artists were doing a little rapping in their songs, trying to have that "hard" image, Jodeci's remix songs come to mind ("Come and Talk to me, I really want to know your name..."). Now, R&B artists just have rappers featured on their albums.
They just don't artists like Blackmoon, Smif N' Wessun, Jeru The Damaja anymore, hell I rather listen to Dell The Funky Homosapien than listen to Cash Money.
