Thanks for posting that, you made my day. Sonny was my best mate. I was there with Sonny at this show, he was the proudest man in the world. I was the second proudest. RIP brother.

;D I had a friend who used to work for a supplement company here selling Nutra-Life visit Sonny once.He said Sonny easily blew fellow oz bodybuilder Terry Mitsos who was then endorsed by Nutra-Life .My friend said you could literally see the car sink when Sonny got in LOL! All that being said,he was a damn soft spoken chap..polite as hell.

He was very good friends with Milos.
Sure Milos and many others feel a big void(no pun intended) now that hes gone...

sonny would have to hold the record for getting good real fast. he went from being a middleweight novice to a heavyweight nationals winner in about a year! this was in 1984-85

Does anyone have anymore information on Schmidt? He has one of the greatest front lat spreads I've ever seen, probably second to Yates.

Sonny and I were roommates for years and really the best of friends.
He was one of the kind - wonderful human being with the biggest heart and so much love for life and others...
His unexpected and early death still hurts everyone he was close to...and it certainly hurts me.
Thank you for posting that clip. He was exceptional bodybuilder...ONE OF THE VERY BEST.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sonny on about one-half dozen occasions and everytime I walked away, I said the same thing to myslef - "What a wonderful human being and great representative for our sports." I was truly saddened to hear about his untimely passing almost three years ago.
Question: I was sure that Sonny was born in Samoa, so why did it say he was from Australia on that clip?

He was born in Samoa...but took Australian citizenship (to my knowledge)

Hey Milos, Sonny thought the world of you. You are right, he was one of a kind, sometimes I see all the pics around the gym and it leaves me stunned. He was born in Auckland New Zealand, grew up in Western Samoa, moved back to Auckland as a young man and then made Australia home. He lived in the States for a few years with Milos in San Diego.
