Title: Kamali as a bodybuilder....
Post by: DIVISION on November 14, 2006, 12:14:07 PM

I know alot of people love to pick on the kid, but it really puzzles me why he can never come in to a show looking "on".

From what I've seen it appears that he loses too much mass and density during his pre-contest prep dieting, which is strange to me because there are enough gurus out there to help him.

He does have genetic structrual limitations, but beyond that, there should be no reason he can't come in looking fuller.

He might be one of those types of people who can't diet down without losing whatever edge he had over other competitors.

Opinions?   ???

IMO he has many structural flaws now compared to the Kamali of the past...There are many up-and-coming bodybuilders that have amazing structures that are only getting better with the more mass they put on...Kamali is turning into a much lower class Nasser....Just my thoughts...

He has structural flaws that probably can be overcome with being in amazing condition.  Back when he made his pro debut, you didn't see how bad his structure was because of his condition.

Michael,

That brings me back to my point about his condition.

He looks deflated and dry on-stage, and that has nothing to do with genetics.

It's conditioning and pre-contest prep.

A man of that size should not look that bad at a show.

I agree with you on that...But he is the type of bodybuilder that has gotten more mass and just can't keep it together...

I think his arms are genetically inferior as well as his torso, though you could argue he is suffering from early Palumboism.

I think a lot of them do a lot of last minute things to get that last bit of fullness/dryness.  Usually, it doesn't work.  Look at DJ.  A few weeks out he looks insane.  But when you add carb depeletion, lasix, insulin, simple carbs/complex carbs its a lot for the body.  Personally, I think King has run into the same problem Gaspari did.  His body is shot!!!  I have no idea what his drug cycle looks like, but it looks like his body has stoped responding.

The guy looked good in 1994. Then, for some reason, he started to believe his own hype about training quarter squats in smith machines with 8 spotters and bulking up to a sumo wrestler in the off season because "it only matters what you look on game day".

In short, Kamali has a weak mind IMO.

Check out his training vids. Training with heavy weights is easy. Anyone can do that. Use full range of motion, use good form is hard.

Kamali seemingly don't know jack shit about training hard IMO.

If he ever did, his pompous ass forgot it along the way.

Cicherillo, for all his "light" training, trains much harder than Kamali.

well...i'll tell u...slin..plus other stuff...u know ...a lot of bb go for mass overkill and only after the midsection damage is done they remember that it's an opticall illussion and the thin waist makes u bigger too...so it's a paradox...

Queen Tamali has sub-par gentetics coupled with the fact that he cycles to hard, and now everyone is seeing the results of a piece of shit who couldn't make top 6 at an NPC show in Fargo, ND

I think that Kamali did start out okay, he had better than descent conditioning. But he kept getting bigger, which made his structural flaws standout more. Plus he was getting bigger in the wrong places. Top that off with pics of him and Nasser at 300+ pounds, add in his self created hype, and a little water= an Iranian Stay-Puff Marshmallow man.

And if he tries to get smaller, he does it too quickly, and I doubt he can capture what he had during his rookie year, very few can go back in time for their best look.

What you are saying is a bunch of BS. His problem is his muscle bellies and structure. His poor placings are not due to losing muscle precontest.

If the problem is looking sucked out and flat how come he looked better when Disgusted had him on a close to zero carb diet and a bunch of cardio. He looked worse when he was fully loaded the week before.

Venom,

I think you have a point about his adding mass made his structural flaws really stand out.

Arms, Torso.....

I also think his dieting down is also a problem, maybe he is someone who can't diet down no matter what the strategy is, without losing too much lean mass giving him that emaciated look.

No reason to get mouthy, BilderNugg.

I don't know his dieting strategy so really, I can't argue that phase of it.

I just know that he looks so small and sucked out, more so than other competitors who've dieted just as long or longer.

Zachary,

I also agree about the training.

I wonder about any pro bodybuilder who relies on the Smith Machine for the bulk of their movements, or machines for that matter.

I know Chick swears by machines, but still.......... :-\

i'll tell u that most of them rely on machines...not all...but most...not only machines but majority...it's too expensive to get injured...just for the ego...and if you really wanna know the mechanics of midsection bloating..LET'S GET DISGUSTED TO CAST AN OPPINION... i for one would love to find out what he thinks since i'mk also interested on the subject. I find that the midsection is so crucial on stage andalmost everyone neglects it...Not just building it but also CONTROLING IT..!
