32" LCD HDMI and Pioneer surround for my bedroom! I've found true love.
Yeah, It's got 12.8 billion colors which is going to come in handy :)
pics of dope new setup to come...

Good job, prices of LCD televisions are dropping fast. It's a good time to buy. How many HDMI inputs does it have, more than one is a good thing along with a VGA input for your computer.
-
I'm not sure what a HDMI input is as yet :-[ I have my ps2 and dvd plugged into it atm though?
It has a plug for my monitor as well, built in digital box...all the bells and whistles. The surround has 4 tall speakers a sub twice the size of my pc box...its off tha hook!
Be cool to see some pics of other getbiggers entertainment setups

Congratulations :)

HDMI stands for High Definition MultiMedia Interface and it's the best way to transfer HD content from a source to a display. There's a new HDMI standard called HDMI 1.3 which will be able to accept 1080p content which is the highest form of HD content and is what BluRay DVD's and HD DVD's transmit and what the PS3 will supposedly handle as well.
Congratulations, it sounds like you have a nice setup.

lol. ;D FALSE! It does not take me 3 hours to pick out a TV. It takes weeks, man, weeks. I do not take such an important part of my life lightly. When you're going to spend the kind of quality time that I do with a TV, you have to get it right the first time.
My next project is a projector. My friend brought his to my house for a movie. I'm hooked. It's like being at the drive-in.

Whitin 5 years this will be old fashion.

You can say that about all current technological gadgets. In fact you're overstating it, if the TV has a max resolution of 720p and the previous generation HDMI input then it will be old fashioned in about 5 months.
Technology today changes in the blink of an eye. Dual core processors are all the rage right now but quad core processors for PC's will soon be on the market and 10 or more core processors aren't far off either.
Wait a few years and see what cell phones will be, you'll be astonished. I've seen a few prototypes that were astounding.

I wouldn't mind seeing porn on a drive in sized tv screen.

Projectors don't use TV screens.

I did the same about 8 months ago. 52" Samsung and a Denton surround sound. Better than going to games or movies because all you need is right their. The HDTV is so sharp, you can see the grass grow. I got it from a friend who does gyms and did the New England Pats stadium. He even had players have him go to their houses to install. He did Brady's and Bruschi's just to name a few. Also world gym where you have a set in front of every piece of cardio. About 20 in all. The dude only sells commercial equpt. not available to the general public. Boxing matches is like sitting ringside. It rocks and people think I dissappeared of the face of the earth. Why go out? Best investment in years.

Only 32"??
I had a budget to stick with so rather than buying a bigger one of poorer quality I stuck with a sweet tv just a pinch smaller
It is just for teh bedroom afterall and its not to big to hug
-
Congrats on the purchase. For anyone going forward, if you know someone that works at best buy speak to them. My brother works there and I just purchased the new 50" Sony SXRD DLP. 1080p res. I ended up getting the TV, stand, cables (HDMI to DVI), and 4yr warranty after tax cheaper than the tv was alone. And they came and delivered and set it up. You could probaly just bribe some kid for 100 bucks to give you his discount.

I'm just teasing. But I do judge a man by the size of his TV. :)

You going to have some pics of your new set-up?
Where are you going to put your sub?
-
The king of bang for the buck right now is the Westinghouse line of 1080p LCD's. The best for the price, certainly not the best overall tv.
If anyone is in the market for a new tv take a look at either the Westinghouse LVM-37W3 or the LVM-47W1, they're both fantastic for the price. The only caveat is that they're monitors so they don't have internal tuners. For 99% of all people that doesn't matter though since anyone buying a monitor capable of handling 1080p would certainly use it with either a satellite dish or a HD capable cable box, preferably a DVR.
-
i'm gonna get one soon. maybe 34-35"
-
You going to have some pics of your new set-up?
Where are you going to put your sub?
I'll post some pics next week when I figure out how I want it for the room
Sub...maybe under the bed? suggestions....I'm thinking to have two of the tall speakers each side of the set and two in the two back corners of the room
-
The higher they are the clearer they will sound. The only reason I went nuts is because of a long over due insurance settlement. Otherwise it would of been back ole the old 27"er. which I gave to the in laws and they think they have a movie screen ;D
But if Anyone in the New England area is looking to invest PM me and I'll give you the phone to the dude who does the Pats. Costly, but quality.

Using professionals is nice but not needed and it can be very expensive. With some research and some shopping around someone could save themselves thousands and still build an excellent system.

Put the Sub in the corner, don't be afraid to move the sub around though, because different locations can really affect the sound and feel. Buy a really good centre channel. If you are gong to watch lots of movies. The center channel speaker carries most of the dialogue and sound. Only get towers if you plan on playing music separate from your video.
I have a 7.1 set-up with mirage nanoset speakers and Yamaha Amp for sound. Also I have 50" LCD Projection TV, my TV is a few years old so I only have 1080i, Oh well.
Sounds like you have a killer system. I want to buy one of those TV's for Upstairs.
I almost forgot. Make sure you get an HD Receiver. It is the best purchase you can make. Sports are absolutely amazing in HD. If you like Soccer, it helps because you can see the defenders and wingers in the play an this helps tp see how the plays are set up.
