...do you think that he would have been able to submit Tim? It just seems by the time he got him there he was out of gas and just looked for a breather. Either way, Monson took a lot of shots and its one tough s.o.b!

Seems like when Monson did get him down Tim did a decent job at defending himself. I won a bet on this fight but it was one that I actually hoped to lose... damn. Guess Vera is next?

Monson has been hyped as the submission man, but most of the submissions you see are by brute strength. If you look at high ADCC stuff, he does really win alot with subs, it's by points. If Monson was truely an awesome grappler, when he was in the north/south position the fight would have been over. Right after his first takedown, Tim left his arm up just asking for an armbar while Monson was in side control. Watch the fight again, you'll see Tim grab his other arm and pull it down. It didn't help matters that once Tim pulled guard Monson couldn't really soften him up with punches to the face. This was by far the most boring fight of the night, but I'll say Tim followed his gameplan and knew what he needed to do in order to win.

I call him the Snoreman. He wins by advantage, points and lay and pray. He beat Pe De Pano twice, but didn't sub him. His cardio is unreal, BUT, when you have a 265 lb man laying on top of you, you have the tendency of getting winded.

snowman aint shit. it's just that the heavy weight division is pretty sad in the ufc. he couldnt do shit even with sylvia on his back. sylvia had several submission attempts and anyone being better on submissions than sylvia might've had monson trapped (sylvia's reach is exceptionell, but still most fighter have good reach in that weightclass, monson is just way short)
and whats with the communists tattooes on monson and his belly sticking out?
was a pretty easy day at the office for sylvia, still boring to watch because, well sylvia aint that exciting to begin with.
