This guy was hyped up a few years ago. Does he still compete anymore? Is he taking time off?
-
He gave it up... Went to Harvard. He can make way more money with his education and fitness modeling. Smart man. Why kill yourself for nothing? He knows he has no chance to take the O. Probably does not want to have to put on 50 lbs and grow a massive gut. If he stays the size his is now he wont win.

Went to HARVARD? What program?

Dunno, I forget. He posted what his major was awhile back. He is in grad school.... Business maybe? He posts here. Pm him.

well, who knows. I was hoping he stayed a little longer. doesn't he look like shawn a bit?

Richard who?

Kinda. Shawn had bigger legs I think. Jones had a fantastic physique. The detail in his back was insane.

Harvard Smarvard. Anybody can go to Harvard. Not everybody can win the O. Ronnie could've been a valedictorian at Harvard if he had chosen to pussy out and go the academic route.
-
He can always come back. But an education is necessary in this bodybuilding bussiness. I'm sure when he's done doing whatever he's doing, he'll have plenty of options waiting for him, including bodybuilding
-
I was definitely a fan. He could have been a winner at most of the Pro Shows, maybe not Mr. O, but a name in the money.

Harvard, UC Santa Barbara, same thing

LOL... for an IFBB pro, UC Santa Barbara may as well be Harvard. ;D
-
I don't blame Richard at all for his decision. Becoming a Pro BBer is a dream come true....until you realize what it takes to be competitive with the best of them.

He posted on this board he would be attending grad school at Harvard. I know this because I pmed him about good places to do cardio. I told him the charles river public park was a great place to jog. I know this since I live across the charles river from Cambridge in Boston ::)
If his plans changed on what school he was attending I would have no idea.

Richard is being smart. I don't think he ever used insulin or GH either, just anabolics. As for schools in the USA - there is a difference. I find it annoying when people in Canada try to "debate" the differences in quality amongst schools when they are all standardized.

Exactly, and I think Rich is already big enough if you ask me.
Going to my first IFBB PRO show in september, I didn't think those guys were so huge.
even if the guys isn't that impressive onstage, they are still fucking huge.
look a this picture of Desmond Miller, people say he needs a bigger upperbody to do well in the pros.
and I agree ! but in everyday's life, he looks like a fucking tank.
-
That is why bodybuilding is garbage these days. back in the 70's you had guys like Serge walking around at 215. Arnold at 240. Sergio at 225. granted these guys where massive but wayyyyyyy more realistic and attainable. How stupid does it sound to tell a guy like Jones he is "small" I have said it about Dex. I laugh how I have to say that. The guy is a blob of muscle. They are both huge. i do not give a shit if they do not have 35 inch arms. half colemans weight is in his gut.

I believe RJ is or was going to UCSB. Not Harvard.
He's doing the right thing. But I do hope and believe he is going to come back.
Not many of today's pros can pull off a vacuum.
-
Yes !!!
every fucking IFBB Pro is big
just look a dugdale, that's the perfect physique right there
I like seeing pics like this I think they always look better than onstage ( Not that Mark looks bad onstage :o)

I assume he changed his mind about going to Harvard. I do not follow him so I have no clue. but i wish him well. Always cool to us on here.

Mark looks great! But his legs look weird there. Kinda like a fat person's legs. Maybe just the pic tho.

I agree that his legs look way too big :o

He'd have to offer proof for me to believe he was accepted to Harvard. ::) That's a stretch.
I'm sure UCSB is a fine school and I wish him the best. I believe he was going for his MBA, which makes a heck of a lot more sense than pursuing a IFBB pro career.
-
Jones does have military fans in Iraq though. Guys in my unit are big fans of Jones. Haven't seen him in the mags in the last year or so. Did Weider drop him?
Flex magazine & MF suck major ass! I wish he was in MD because that's all we read. Some of the "softer" guys like the Flex & MF crap. But most of us love hardcore.

Naw, i don't think it was Harvard either. I've read somewhere that it was UCSB [written by Jones].
UCSB is an awesome school. Some of the finest women in all of Cali go there [so i hear].

Like I said.... He posted it on this board. I posted about the city. I lived right near Harvard at the time. I am not going to dig up the posts but he def claimed he was headed to Boston for grad school. No idea if he was lying or not.

He's being smart and realistic - going to school! Good for Richard! I think it's great that he did what he could out there in the bodybuilding scene and is now moving on to further his education. Now if he decides to go back on stage again, that'll be cool, but we'll see.
