discuss.

He looked in great shape at the Colorado Pro, just a shame his posing isn't terrible. Love to see him and Vince Taylor battle it out at a Masters competition, that would be worth watching.
-
what is the DVD title ? have you seen the whole thing ? any good ?
-
he's so 1987
-
He looks great. but his waist has gotten a bit "thick". I assume that comes with age as he is about 400 now? Looks good.
-
Gary looks sick in the video. I bought it last month from his website. Very inspiring.
-
theres a signed photo of him in my gym where he writes "gary strydom, the real Mr. O"... must have been when he worked for vince mcmahan.... but he's retarded if he actually believes that

This clip is gary's best ever shape/appearance at the 1991 WBF show.
Gary has one of those weird shapes...
He looks great in any side pose like a side chest, side tricep etc
He also looks great in any hands in front pose or most muscular variation.
It's when he stands front on and does a lat spread or especially a front double bicep pose that he disappears.
Same with from behind... he never had a great lat spread or rear doubble bicep pose.
One reason is structural... He is basically a tall, narrow guy. He has very small hips for a man his height which makes his shoulder structure look very wide when it really isn't THAT wide.
One reason is laziness... He never, ever developed a decent amount of scapula flexibility which is critical to great front and rear shots...
Think Robby Robinson or tony pearson... those guys could spread it big time and it came from practice... yates really had good scapula flexibilty too for a big guy (ie. when he did a lat spread big things happened...)
Here is a vid of tony pearson... great lat spread for a small guy

Thanks mate... it only took me 25 years following this sport to figure physiques and posing out!

Btw - and it pains me to say this - Chick is probably one of the best technical posers in the history of the sport...
