Who here has had there's removed? How long to recover, doc said 2 weeks
I was choppered off a rig to land, then flew from one hospital to another by the royal flying doctors, then operated on.
I couldnt eat for nearly 30 hrs. Catabolism at its best.

You work on a rig what are you right now? Ruffneck?
-
So long as it didn't rupture first which I see that it didn't you are not looking at that long to be up and about....but it may be some time until you can lift at 100%.
-
Damn you got diagnosed just in time, it seems.
Takes bodybuilders 3 weeks since they have more muscle tissue in the abdomen.
Try to take it easy, bust the staples out and you will make the process of healing even longer.
-
My professional opinion is you can start with heavy deadlifts in about a week :D!!
-
What the fuck dose your appendix do anywho?
-
I took a full week off, then lifted extremely light for another week (warm-up weights maximum!), then for the third week lifted a little heavier. By the fourth week I was in full-swing :)

No ones 100% sure what it does in man, though some believe it has antibdy producing properties, as its highly surrounded by lypmhoid tissue. Because of a possible pupose to the appendix, they are less likely to perform appendectomys now, only unless theres a high risk of perferation which can lead to peritonitis then septacaemia and death...
Cows use it to help breakdown grass as they possess a beta cellulose enzyme....

get well soon, bro'!

Dubious statement, I have removed hundreds and I have yet to see a bodybuilder present 3 weeks late due to increased muscle mass ::)
I assume it was done laparoscopically, unless you are writing from a third world or had a very poor surgeon looking after you. If it was, you should be back to "normal" in about 1 week.

That's news to me. We are performing less appendectomies because of the role that imaging has played in reducing the negative appendectomy rate. I would challenge you to find any surgeon worth a lick of salt who would tell you that they are leaving possible appy's in because of the "crucial function of the appendix"

I had my appendix taken out a few years back. They did the op at about 5pm. They kicked me out of the hospital the next morning at 7am. I walked 30 blocks home because I couldn't catch a cab. The op site didn't hurt but my shoulder joints killed for about 2 months from all the air they pump inside your body to get your organs separated. Laproscopy is the only way to go with an appendectomy.

My appendix ruptured when I was 17. It took me about a month to be back to normal. The scar I have is probably 7 inches long. They only good part about it was the bj in the hospital.

That orderly went above the call of duty. You give him a tip?

You're the one that got a BJ from a male hospital orderly. Not me.

Since they had to cut through you abdomen I could imagine that you would probably have to lay off any power movements that involve you core for at least 12 weeks. You can still bench curl etc, but stay away from squats and deads. I had a titanium cage put in to fuse my L7 S1 vert. and it took four months to heal. Still lifted as heavy as I could in the areas that were not affected.
Get well

Hell no! Im marine crew offshore, Im a merchant seaman
It wasnt laproscopically removed, they gutted me. Incision is about 2 - 3 inches.
It was done in a remote area of Australia
