DC++ is your best bet.

Used to be mostly in Scandinavian countries, that's where it has it origins, but it's been growing as of late.

BitTorrent, Azureus is a good client IMO. Google for azureus, I think the site is a "sourceforge" or something like that.

At http://allofmp3.com/ songs are as cheap as 5 cents.  Entire albums from 1-2 dollars.

yep.  i found it to be easier to set up one computer just for downloading music and movies (a cheap $140 white box).  Much easier than searching for viruses and risking F'ing up the PC I use for working.  Plus you get the ability to DL some 800+MB porn movies without slowing down your main machine.
