"He trains just as hard, if not harder, certaintly for longer. Hes my favourite strongman and one of the best of all time".
I'd love to have seen tham compete against each other.
-
Where does he say he is better?
-
Where does he say he is better?
Apparently in UK's mind. lol
-
I never heard Kaz say that....but I've heard him say he admires Mariusz
-
Reading between the lines..... For a guy as proud as Kaz to admit that someone trains harder than him....
He said it last night on a UK strongman show.

no he didn't, Kaz would never say such a thing, Bill has never had a problem admitting that someone is strong but he will say that he's the strongest man ever.
-
Why would i lie? I think they're both incredible athletes and an inspiration to eveyone thats serious about training. They both make a mockery of the bloated bufoons of the ifbb :-\

You are speculating. He never said anything close to that.

Anyone from the UK that watched it will confirm it. The show was hosted by former England rugby great Martin Bayfield.

even if Kaz himself said it he doesn't know what he's saying, Pudz could never handle the weight that Bill could on the squat, deadlift, bench press and shoulder press.
-
Maybe not, but it was cool to see Kaz giving such credit to Mariusz. He always comes across really well, not like some arrogant c unt like Phil 'natrual' Pfister.
-
Bill Kazmier is the greatest strongman to ever live, truely a beast among men, he is the Arnold of strongmen.
-
I watched this show, the part you quoted was all he said. He never said, implied or "said between the lines" anything about Mariusz being better or stronger. Reading between the lines Bill may have implied that Mariusz needed to train more than him even to be compatible thereby making Bill the more naturally strong.
-
I'd do them both! ;D
-
I'd do them both! ;D
Well this thread has offically been gayed up ;D
-
Mariusz is a better overall athlete than Kaz and will most likely pass Kaz up and set a new record for strongman titles...Although, Kaz is and always will be a man among men with truly natural superhuman abilities...Kaz is still a monster to this day...
-
i would have to give it mariusz. times have changed. the strength athlete has evolved. they have better training techniques , supplements ect. now.
-

i do agree with you here that the American strongmen come off as arrogant for no reason, they're not that good compared with the Russians and Europeans.
-
Bill's answer machine says "This is Bill Kazmaier the Worlds Strongest Man" something to that effect. I always thought it was funny. Colemans message said something like it to except he put Mr. olympia. I thought it funny that they would do that considering anyone who is calling them would know who they are.
-
Kaz was bigger and heavier thus a little stronger, just as some of the current guys have more pure power than Mariusz. He's comparable due to greater speed and agility.
Some of the best euro lifters have been excluded:
Prior to 2004, the IFSA was the only strongman series (And reg body) and the WSM contest was an extra owned by Met-Rx ,along with some other anual contests. Anyone in the IFSA series could apply. However in 2004 there was falling out between Met-rx and Douglas Edmonds (Scot) who is the President of The IFSA (who’s son Gregory is also a competing strongman). The dispute was over Mariusz Pudzianowski (Poland) who is Met-rx main sponsor and marketing tool. He tested positive for drugs in the 2004 WSM (which he won) after Edmonds changed the rules at the last minute. He was stripped of his title and banned from the IFSA for a year along with a few others. Met-rx became unhappy and started its own super strong man series. Starting in 2004 only those competing in their super strong man series could qualify for the WSM comp.
This has led to major problems for the athletes whose own sponsors will not allow them to compete in the Met-rx titles (As the sponsors themselves will have links with IFSA) However this is bound to even out over time and some are beginning to link up to Met-rx) But the bottom line is that The IFSA series is the most popular league, but the met-rx contests are viewed by millions and have historic value. Therefore the Strongmen have to choose between them. The pattern at the moment is that Most European Strongmen are in IFSA series and most American and Canadian are in super strong series. With a few exceptions.
The Split has also had an effect on the audiences as it’s really unclear who is stronger than who as many of the favorites don’t compete against each other. Many argue that Zydrunas Savickas (Lithuania) is the strongest man in the world as he has smashed many records and has won both the Arnold classic strongman comp for the last 4 years and the ISFA series for the last 2. However he has never won WSM (coming 2nd three times, twice to Pudzianowski) prior to 2004.. Mariusz Pudzianowski has won WSM 3 times (4 including his stripped title) but he has never beaten Savickas in the IFSA series. WSM is still a huge global event and is watched in nearly 80 countries, the athletes that appear on it seem to get better recognized and more fans world wide, however it has to be staid that the standard is getting easier because of the above and many people miss their favorites and long time competitors like Karlsen, Samuelsson and Bergmanis. It’s thought that with the easing competition Pudzianowski will continue to dominate it and shatter all records.
IFSA athletes include favorites Zydrunas Savickas, Raimonds Bergmanis, Vasyl Virastyuk, Svend Karlsen (ret), Magnus Samuelsson.
-
Pudz is a beast. Kaz was the original beast. Tough call.
-
Mariusz is the best athlete on the planet. He has everything, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, very fit. It is the product of true training methodology and AAS application. He is not fat like others strongmen, he has better physic than the majority of professional bbers and has Martial Arts Skills. How can this man be compared to anyone???

Is it true Mariusz is the former boxing champion of Poland?
After researching this topic today of who the strongest man ever was, I found a few threads that went on for a long time without really resolving anything. So I have another question:
Who would win in a fight, Mariusz or Mike Tyson? ???
If he trained for a year or two for a bit of boxing skill then I would say Mariusz. I know Tyson's washed up but right at this point in time he would probably win. Muscles do not a fighter make.

LoL at Mariusz ever beating Mike Tyson in a boxing match.

ok, this is where we get carried away with the nut hugging.
marius was NEVER 'the former boxing champion of poland' lmao
he was an amateur boxer and that's it. no great record.
he claimed he went into strong man because 'he didn't like getting hit'. now that says a lot considering he had been an AMATEUR boxer.
looking at him shadow boxing now with all that bulk in the way he would have A SNOW BALLS CHANCE IN HELL OF LASTING 20 SECONDS WITH EVEN PRESENT DAY TYSON.
he can't extend a right hand and he is WIDE open to the head and body. way too stiff and has ZERO protection for an uppercut (left or right).
hope that helps? ok, now back to strong man comps.
uk gold, you are full of shit. IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER DID BILL IMPLY/STATE/INTIMATE/OTHERWISE ANYTHING ABOUT MARIUS BEEN BETTER THAN HIM. he said that marius was ONE OF THE GREATS
hope that helps too.

Yes, boxing this, boxing that, size and strength doesn't matter, blá, blá. Tyson always was a heavy guy with big arms.
Well of course that Mariusz is no fighter, but he would kick many fighters ass on MMA fights.
On the street boxing techniques may not work at all. Don't forget that mariusz is a very fit man, he has a lot of breath, won't go down easy. If Mariusz grabs any guy he can powerslamm him to the floor... And there goes your nice uppercuts...
Hope this helps!!!

see, now this is why we should stick to lifting.
how exactly do you think mariusz is going to get a hold of tyson with out getting his chin shunted up into his brain first?
tyson fought at his best around 98 kilos, not that big.
'if mariusz grabs ANY guy he can power slam him to the floor.'
lol, someone spends far too much time watching wwf.

hahahahaha, exactly, Tyson would destroy Mariusz so fast that you would barely see it.

For the record, WWF doesn't exist (OWNED), it is WWE. Second, I don't like WWE, but I see some powerslams at MMA fights.
Third, the best fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, weighs about 110 kg, he is extremely fast and destroyed all the other fighters with good uppercuts and not very big guys, because big is stupid isn't it ::) (well, strange for a guy called BEAST ???).
Hope this helps!!!!

he didn't fight sapp
Exactly. Only marketing, no real uppercuts...

I'd do them both! ;D
AIDS ;D

wwf/wwe/wwb/whatever.
yes you see power slams at mma fights. slamming takes a little more than strenth, you have to be skilled at timing it right. you don't just walk over to someone and slam em.
i don't think big is stupid at all. it's just that you're comparing apples with oranges here.
mariusz is a powerlifter, bob is acting like a fighter and tyson is most definitely a fighter.
this should help

Anyone from the UK that watched it will confirm it. The show was hosted by former England rugby great Martin Bayfield.
What channel was that on? I'll look for a re-run :)

Beast. keep telling the truth .

Channel 5. The next episode is on at 8 on Friday.
I love Saxon! You're not being ironic are you? Denim and leather is one of my fave albums; "denim, and leather - brought us all together - it was YOU, that set the spirit free!". Biffs voice is fucking great, very underated.

He said it last night on a UK strongman show.
Dude, no where did Kaz state Mariusz was better than himself.

Oh, I'll have to tape that!
Saxon would be one of my favourite bands, seen them live a couple of times, they put on a great show!!

Mariuz wouldn't stand a chance with tyson
-
Mariusz is better at failing drug tests
-
Both Kaz and Mariusz are great strongmen. Kaz is a great personality too
But the King of all strongmen was Jón Páll from Iceland he was truely one of the greatest
-
Mariuz wouldn't stand a chance with tyson
One thing I am sure he can put on a fight, but Tyson couldn't even do the first exercise of a strong man competition! Tyson is a very good ear chewer, got knocked out big a big guy and since then is falling to pieces. A very dumm guy, juiced beyond belief. Mariusz is a true professional, also very juiced, but much more stable and focused.
-

Tyson only weighed about 215lbs, no need for juice to get that big.

Yes. But most of boxers don't juice to get bigger. They juice to increase their strength, muscle recovery, injury recovery, increase their resistance etc, etc. There isn't such thing as a clean professional boxer!

ok, please inform us of how you're 'sure' that mariusz would be able to 'put on a fight'?
you see, i'm very 'sure' that you are talking out of your arse and that you wouldn't know the first thing about fighting.
i know this because the only reason you have given for your belief is that mariusz is very big and can lift very heavy things ::)
why don't you just go ahead and say that mariusz would have a good chance of playing in the world series at base ball. i mean it's only logical, he's big so that means he can hit the ball hard, etc. shit, maybe he should take up golf and make a few million there too. tennis anyone? wimbledon finals here we come. ;D
wait, here's more genius from this guy: 'tyson got knocked out by a big guy' implying that mariusz could knock him out too.
i assume the 'big guy' you're talking about is lennox lewis, one of the greatest undisputed pro world hw champions that ever lived. lennox lewis, who had boxed competitively for nearly 30 years and was at his prime when he fought a very post prime tyson. lewis was a gold medalist in the super heavy weight division at the 1988 olympic games, stopping riddick bowe in the final (who threw his championship belts in the garbage rather than face lennox as a professional). lewis, as a professional had faced and beaten convincingly holyfield, tua, mccall, bruno, golota, grant (now this guy was woolly woolly big 6'7" 265lbs :o)
this is your logic. you are actually comparing mariusz to lennox lewis (who was 6'5" 245lbs and built nothing like mariusz)???
you need to go back to watching wwf and continue your drooling over those nasty big boys doin all that body slammin. :-*

like I told before WWF doesn't exist, it is WWE (you are a lazy learner, but it is OK!). Look, real life isn't boxing. If you want something that looks like real life you mus watch to MMA UFC fights, where your beloved "ear chewer" would be destroyed, but he could always chew some ears. Like I said your boxing tecniques are only useful if you hit first, and even like that things may not work well. Probably you are one of those little guys, that says that is very fast, blá, blá, run alot, blá, hit the bag everyday, blá, blá and blá, blá. Don't need to get nervous, Tyson never dominated the sport because he never dominated himself, so I don't admire dummies that hit women and go to jail. About me not undrstanding about fighting, well i am not going to loose my time on this, but for my experience sometimes shit really happens even if you know lovely uppecuts movements...
Before I go I repeat, WWF doesn't exist, it is WWE.

i told you before wwf means nothing to me. it is acting of a very poor calibre and i haven't bothered to watch it since i was about 12 years of age. i would watch an infomercial before wwf. obviously you're obsessed with it though and, believe me, it explains everything about you.
talking about talking out of your arse ;D now you are dribbling some shit about tyson's personal life/character and mma/ufc etc. anything to avoid the point of issue, which you now say you are not interested in discussing any further (surprise surprise)::)
well, stupid, if you go back a few threads you'll see that i suggested exactly this, but YOU wanted to persist in discussing a subject you know nothing about.
you are like the retarded person at a party that everyone tries to avoid because he keeps blabbering on about subjects he knows NOTHING about.

THE ROUTINE: Mariusz Pudzianowski, world's strongest man
Independent on Sunday, The, Mar 21, 2004
Mariusz Pudzianowski, 26, is over 6ft and just under 21 stone. He was born in Poland, and entered his first strongman competition aged 16, turning professional in 1998. He has won the title of MET-Rx World's Strongest Man for the past two years and has dominated the Polish circuit, winning the national strongman title four years in a row. When not training or competing, he relaxes by following his passion, karate.
When did you first think about becoming the world's strongest man?
Right from my first memory. I wasn't an enormous baby but I grew quick and remember being the strongest kid in school. My dad, who is now my coach, had been the Polish weightlifting champion, and when he saw my size, he began teaching me a few techniques. I used my strength initially as a boxer, fighting for seven years, but even then my passion was to be a strongman. I gave the boxing up to turn professional.
Describe your training regime
train for five hours a day and allow myself only one day off a week. Mornings are spent in the gym. I follow a set circuit of back squats, leg curls and extensions, pull-ups, chin-ups, dead lifts and bench-pressing. I deal in really heavy weights, bench- pressing 180kg for example. My record is 255.5kg. Twice a week, I will break early and swim or run for an hour to let my body recover. Being the best is not all about strength. Each discipline is technically different, so during the afternoons I will practise each event. The only way of improving lifting anvils or throwing boulders is to practise, practise, practise.
Strongmen are renowned for their size as well as their strength. You must require a vast amount of fuel.
I have a 22in neck and a 57in chest, and my training means I have to take in 10,000 calories daily, four times the average intake of a normal person. I eat four meals a day and focus on protein, particularly for breakfast and lunch. I eat loads of red meat and eggs and take in plenty of supplements to keep up my muscle bulk. I have to make sacrifices to keep myself in shape, and don't drink any alcohol.
Are steroids a major problem in strongman events?
Like many other sports, there are strict controls to ensure there is no cheating. The supplements we take are produced by the sponsor of the event, MET-Rx. We are tested for banned substances after every event. It's important to show the sport is clean.
Is there any strongman discipline you particularly dislike?
I'm pretty comfortable with them all, but I need to work hardest at the dead lift. You have to lift 295kg with straight arms and a bent back until your back is locked upright. It puts a lot of pressure on the shoulders and back. Strongman competitions consist of seven events, so generally speaking the last one is the most testing, just because the energy levels are so low.
How do you manage to overcome the pain barrier?
Every part of the body is tested to the limit, and I feel the pain at every event and every day in training. The lactic acid creates a serious burning sensation. It comes down to mind over matter; all of us can achieve more than we think. I try to focus on anything but the pain - nice things, like the beautiful women at the events!
Do you have any plans to retire?
None at the moment. The oldest guy in last year's final was 37, so I know I can keep going for a while. I've met the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone on the circuit and am setting my sights on becoming an actor when all this gets too much. I've just starred in the Polish remake of Conan the Barbarian. I've always followed the ideal of "live short, live well, live quick"; I would rather live an interesting 50 years than a dull 80.
A video chronicling Mariusz's build-up to last year's MET-Rx world event goes on sale in mid-April. More details: www.pudzian.pl
