Title: What defines aesthetics?
Post by: GoneAway on December 04, 2006, 05:39:29 AM
Is it just a small waist or is there more to it than that?

It's in the eye of the beholder... but there are some general guidelines, most of promiment of them are: (imagine hearing them in a Jeff Foxworthy voice)

If you look anything like Tamali, you might not be aesthetic...
If your gut looks like Ronnie Coleman's, you might not be aesthetic...
If your name is Heiko, Marcus, or Palumbo, you might not be aesthetic...

You guys can take it from here...:)

symetry and balance. Also looking healthy and then poise, the way they carry it, in posing and even just walking out on stage.

Just look at Chris Cormier ;D

He's kind of boring though, because just having balance by itself without any standouts isn't necessarily that interesting.

The best most aesthetic BBs i've seen had balance + size + synergies & flows between muscle groups-intangibles that aren't easily categorized. Not just one aspect involved. Martinez, Wheeler and Nubret for example.

Cormier has more size and balance then Wheeler ever had, Martinez should not be on a list for aesthetics and Stop kissing Nubret's ass so much.

P.S. next time you should use spell check or atleast try to not change your post 2-3 times after you put it up. ::)

you cant compare CC to wheeler, just cant... wheeler is the definition of aesthetics... small joints/ waist, +full round muscle bellies... chris did carry more size then flex, but alot of it was because of his sligtly larger joints.... chris does have a larger/ hanging chest which helps, but he (chris) always seemd to have undersized arms iMO... where as flex's arms were huge

I can easily define the opposite
Title: Re: What defines aesthetics?

I agree. No way his arms were too small. Flex's arms were to big for his legs.

Some people put way too much value on arms and forget that you need other bodyparts like back, chest, and shoulders something Wheeler was lacking in.

lacking would be a harsh criticism ,yes his overinflated 96-00 arm's were out of control, but his delt's were crazy too,his back was very conditioned and rope like early in his career, after he played up his size he looked like a cartoon.his chest was full enough.

I didn't mean they were horrible but that he never seemed to improve on them and in the end resorted to synthol. Cormier has no weak bodypart, he is The Real Deal.

Bob Paris. Benfatto. Bannout. Graneheim. Lee Labrada. Shawn Ray.

That's aesthetics.

Aesthetics is a combination of many factors , muscle size , shape , balance & proportion , a great natural structure , a great harmony between muscle groups that create a very beautiful total physique. aesthetic don't know a weight limit which is a popular misconception most people think being small is a prerequisite of aesthetics and its NOT they cover the weight range from a 175 pound Frank Zane all the way up to a 260 pound Chris Cormier .Things that hurt aesthetics are overdeveloped parts , extreme vascularity , extreme dryness , GH guts , bitch tits , etc

This is as good as it gets

Serge Nubret looks better than anyone posted so far and this was 30+ years ago.  Unreal, thats what perfection looks like.  And its not as drug induced as the ones posted so far.

i agree with all said and the same names alway's come up when talking bout asthestic's,symmetry, ideal look, proportions, remember these guy's trained as much and as hard as the so called mass monster's.they just did what was given to them genetically, trained and dieted and that's how they developed, their's no training to be shaped or symmetrical, their body had balanced look no matter what they did, they didn't have the joint's or structure to be a true mass monster.they all at one time used and used the same drug's the bigger guy's did, just with different end result's.

Phil is a great bodybuilder.  But not all parts of him will grow at same rate. his arms will grow like Coleman but his legs might grow like martinez.  he will lose that which makes him special
