I've thought that when I saw Marcus Ruhl. I'm all for the mass monsters of the bodybuilding world, but personally, I wouldn't like to be that big.

Sure, it'd be great for the beach, but I think you know what I mean by that. You rarely see these aesthetics or poses today.

Reeves looks way better than any Mr Olympia since the late 80s.

People may say the gut isn't a big deal (and I guess it isn't) but you really do lose alot of aesthetic quality having a huge gut and wide waist. Physiques like Reeves will be the ideal for centuries to come and rightfully so.

Steve Reeves is actually looking like he can do any sports.

Look at Ronnie Coleman or Jay Cutler, these guys can't even walk properly anymore. Where's the idea in that?

Training until you cannot move anymore, until your heavy body gets a problem in daily life, i can't see the sense in that.  :-\ :-\

I would rather look like that than any bb of the last 30 years.Reeves has aesthetics and muscle in this shot. He looks athletic. There is a picture of him in the Arnold Encyclopedia. I looked for it on google and the net. The picture shows reeves as a teen, and then after his Mr Universe win. He is doing a front db.The picture I am talking about is the "after" picture. The picture shows why Reeves was the considered one of the most genetically gifted bb ever.

Someone scan it. I do not have a scanner at work.

I agree with you... We are the responsibles to what we do to our bodies. I always give the same example: You can be 135 kg and still be able to run, swim, even boxe... Look at Mariusz Pudzianowski, the man can do it all and still win some WSM competions. This is an athlete, most bbers are just too lazy, and easily run out of breath...
I think Eddie Robinson was the exception, he was a very fit guy, but I am not sure.

I personally have never looked that the sport and though guys where getting too big, I just wonder where it would be today if guys looked more like they did in the pumping iron days. I have showed friends (both male and female) pumping iron and they think the bodies are amazing, the guys want them, the girls would love to meet someone like them. I have also showed the same people current pics, the guy make the comment "I would never want to get that big", well the girls where really turned off. They then look at me like an idiot for working out cause no one would want to look like that (in thier eyes), and of course to the non-gyming all you need to get that big is a few good weeks in the gym. I know the last statement is ridiculous but I have heard it, and although current images in bodybuilding appeal to me, the majority off people have no interest in it, and it reflects poorly on all those who follow it.

I remember reading alot of wierd stuff about guys getting just totally huge in the late 90's like nasser or fux...or maybe it was kovacs being so damn big they couldn't tie thier shoes.  I remember stuff about Lee priest where they said his arms were so big and heavy that they were being pulled out of his sockets, this was back in the old muscle beach report in musclemag, it said lee couldn't brush his hair or his teeth cause his arms were so big...lee actually confirmed some of that stuff on this site a few months ago.

I think being massive for the sake of being massive is getting out of hand, Ronnie to me looks like garbage compared to how he used to look, same with some of the other really big guys like Ruhl and dennis james.  I'd rather have ronnie looking like he did in 98ish than how he looks now...he's kinda an abomination.  If a guy is big and has seperation and a tight waist it looks a hell of alot better to me than the same guy being 50-70lbs heavier and having no taper and no seperation...but that's just my opinion.
