Title: The life of a Bodybuilder.
Post by: Lundgren on December 11, 2006, 12:29:51 PM
So what do you guys think it's like being at the Mr.Olympia level. I mean all the complication of putting on that mass. Just like being muscle bound and stuff like that.

The obvious is probably true. At 5'9" tall tipping the scales at 310-315lbs and pretty lean for that bodyweight, little things gotta suck!  I would imagine you tie your shoes rather quickly as you are getting more and more winded w/every passing second. I'm also guessing diving in the deep end of the pool is out. You cant have any kind of buoyancy at that weight and you might not make it up w/out a fight!
Any of you notice the fan pointed at the bed in Jay's dvd??? I'm guessing your pretty warm all the time even w/air conditioning. Skateboarding? Nope......Surfing? na ah.......
I think outside of the nut busting workout at the gym daily your ass would do very little w/the rest of your day,,,at that bodyweight of course. 8)

Mariusz pudzianowski is heavier than Jay and he can run, swim, a lift weights as hell. It is a matter of training, you can be 135 kg and still be fit. problem is that  most bbers are lazy and don't do any explosive , non-lifting-weight-movements, like some running, swuiming, boxing, etc.

I think Kevin levrone had one of the best life's as a pro, he was still able to do normal every day things in off season because of the simple fact he always used to drop weight instead of gaining it, but yet come competition time he could still compete with the best at the Olympia

I am talking about CONTEST WEIGHT, offseason Mariusz is heavier than 132 kgs. Contest weight, Mariusz is heavier than cutler.
Jay Cutler State:
33 years old, August 3, 1973
5'9"
274 contest weight
310 off season weight
22 ½" arms
31" thighs
20" calves
34" waist
19 ½" neck

From his site. Nevertheless the little weight diference, Mariusz is extremely more fit than Jay, it is a superior athlete, Jay can't even run. I like Mariusz physic rather Jay's!

Your still very dillusional if you think Maruisz carries more muscle than Jay. At 310lbs @5'9" I promise you Jay probably has about 20-30lbs of additional muscle than Maruisz. And as far as physiques, pfft.....you think Jay has a wide waist???? Gimme a break....
Both are exceptional at what they do and subject to opinion but dont attempt to compare physically just cuz one competes in strong man, and the other doesnt.

Is it hard for you guys to understand? It doesn't matter for me if Jay is carrying more muscle. What is being discussed is the life of a bber. Most people here are complaining about the bodyweight, how they get tired and sweaty. What I am saying is that you can weigh 135 kg and still be able to run, swim, having a functional physic, not a being like a fridge that can't even run properly. I gave the example of Mariuz, because he looks like a bodybuilder, but has REAL strength, is very resistant, and even havin such a cut physic he could still be a champion.  It is a functional physic, Jay's is not functional, not very strong, can't run, gets tired very quickly. And yes, Mariusz competion weight is heavier than Jay's. Mariusz could enter in a bbing competition, but Jay could'nt finish the first exercise of a WSM competition. Understand now?

Do we really know the life of a BBer by watching their training vids 5 weeks out or imagining what it would be like day-to-day judging by their physiques? It's hard to know unless you're there.

Porter Cottrell was a fireman, for example. That's not exactly a lazy job.
