the other day i was watching the ultimate fight 1,there was an episode where bobby southworth was asked to cut 20lbs from 225lbs to 205..he cut his weight by being in the sauna for hrs and this was just 2 days before the fight and he cut his weight by 20lbs..how is that possible?chuck liddel said that cutting weight is getting rid of the water weight and loosing weight is a different thing?..plz explain me this

I don't think it is possible to lose almost 10kg in 2 days. And even if he could do that he couldn't stand in his feet, would get exausted in less than a minute.

I have lost as much as 14 lbs. in about 4 hours taking Lasix. But to lose that in a sauna I would think that would have made him very weak.

i have a friend that fights and he was cut a lot of weight in short time (i.e day or two) y using the sauna and epsom salt drinks. All they care about is making weight and the easiest thing to lose is water weight. it's also the easiet to replenish. thats why immediatly after the weigh in they go back to the hotel get IV's and drink. Hence the fact that you weigh in officailly at one weight and come fight night your unoffical weight is always higher

it is not really that hard to cut that much wieght esp. if you have 2-3 days to do it
