Title: Rolling Thunder - post your results here
Post by: Hedgehog on December 15, 2006, 10:25:14 AM
I thought it would be inspiring to have a thread where you could post your current PB on the Rolling Thunder.

Kilos or lbs, doesn't matter.

I'll start it off:

178 lbs.

195lbs at my one and only attempt.

I've never had the opportunity to try a heavier lift.

Impressive, very impressive considering you've never trained for it prior to it.

Anything over 200 lbs is extremely good, something you most likely would get in no time.

Where do I buy this ineffective device? I want to see how much I can do.

It's just a one handed deadlift?  ???  In that case I can pick up a 225 without a strap but anything beyond that requires some grip help. Again thought, this was a dumbbell I picked up, not that thing.  :-\

The bar is much thicker than a regular barbell.

And the bar is, as the name suggests, Rolling. Ie, the bar is built on a handle, and rotates freely. Meaning you can't curl your wrist and pick up the device that way.

You just have to grip it.

Holy shit! Thats impressive, hedge.

Looking at pictures of the Rolling Thunder and people lifting it, I dont think its much (if at all) thicker than the one I made?

Are there bearings in the Rolling Thunder or is it metal on metal?

I have gotten 210 with mine. I should use it more often though.

There's a back pic on the pic section, the member thread.

I actually was able to close the #2.5 CoC the other day. Wasn't even close when I tried to repeat it an hour later though.

Have been doing plenty of gripper work as of late, it hurts like hell, but pays off the following weeks.

I closed the 2.5 for the first time about a month ago. Tried the 3 but was like 1cm away. Problem is, that 1cm is probably equivalent to 2cm in any other part of the motion, so I know I've got a long way to go yet. But I'm still a young pup  ;D
