As soon as you wake up in the morning, whey is a good way to end the overnight fasting because it is fast absorbing.

Yes, if its a slow absorbing (casein) protein.

I agree better than nothing.  However, let's say you sleep 8 hours.  So you go to bed at 10:00 p.m., wake up at 12:00 a.m. to pee and then drink down your whey shake (20g protein). You have thus consumed a quick absorbing protein, the bulk of the 20g is in your system within an hour, leaving 5g of protein to digest and feed your muscles over 5 hours.  In contrast, a casein based shake will provide a more even distribution of protein to your muscles over the course of the night and is thus a better option for avoiding night time catabolism.

Very true, thats why I mentioned 1/2 scoop, since I wake up about 3-5 times a night to drain the kid, thats a 2 scoop total throughout the night.

KEEP ON KEEPIN ON yeah!

I like to have my big breakfast with eggs and oats with fruit so if i have a shake when i get up it makes me not hungry. i'll do it depending if i do cardio that day or not.

25 grams of whey mixed with two cups of nonfat skim milk before bed will do the trick till morning, or instead of milk eat a cup of nonfat cottage cheese and have a whey shake too.
