Portishead - Wandering Star Lyrics
Please could you stay awhile to share my grief
For its such a lovely day
To have to always feel this way
And the time that I will suffer less
Is when I never have to wake
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
... Those who have seen the needles eye, now tread
Like a husk, from which all that was, now has fled
And the masks, that the monsters wear
To feed, upon their prey
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
[INSTRUMENTAL]
(always) doubled up inside
Take awhile to shed my grief
(always) doubled up inside
Taunted, cruel.... ...
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever
Wandering stars, for whom it is reserved
The blackness of darkness forever

one of the most badassed beats of all times is a mp3 i have called "portishead - Acid Jazz and Trip Hop (Remix).mp3" ....
dont know if thats its actual name as often files are mis labelled, but there arent many words, someone says "the game playing to survive" a couple times ... just a trippy assed beat

Is trip-hop still popular stateside?
Never been a massive Portishead fan, it reminds me of drug comedowns too much. At the end of every party in the mid to late nineties someone would slap Dummy on, and you would sit there chewing your own face off and feeling very sorry for yourself.
Always preferred Tricky, Kruder and Dorfmeister, etc.

Can you list a couple of good, groovy songs from those 3?
I've seen tricky live. But i dont know any of his music.

Kruder and Dorfmeister are DJ's, they did release their own material, but I think the majority was remixes. You should definitely look up "The K&D Sessions" mix-album. It's a good album to have a smoke to, if you're into that kind of thing.
With regards Tricky, I would recommend the Maxinquaye album to start off. My favourite tracks on it are: Black Steel, Hell is around the corner and Overcome. Some of his later stuff does get a bit dark and weird.
You may also want to have a listen to some Death in Vegas. Good tracks are: Aisha and Dirge.
