It was clear from Johnnie Jackson's recent guest posing that he was in no shape to compete. He mentioned that he was planning on doing the spring shows when he guest posed in Denver. As he told FLEX magazine, he didn't put in for the Arnold and was never planning on doing it. Dennis James had a hernia surgery and I highly doubt he ever planned on competing as well. Two guys who most likely wouldn't be in the top 6 any ways. Where's the story? Someone from the IRONMAN or SAC show will most likely get an invite to get in the mix.
Melvin never put in for the Arnold as he said all along he was waiting until the Olympia. It sounds like he may get in the mix of the NY Pro show now though. He also had a hernia surgery.
Heath - Martinez - Jackson those are still your top 3, take it to the bank.

The veterans are getting cold feet with the hungry talented up-and-coming guys coming out to that show...I think most of the veteran pro's are just trying to save face this early in the season...Just think about some of the top pro's getting owned by guys that have only been in the pro circuit going on two years...Heath is going to be hard for many of these guys to handle....

Johnny jackson have the potential to be in top six, no problem...just would have to be at his best game. But i think its a smart move from him to take a little 'vacation' now...
i think the favorite here its Martinez, specially after his place at the Olympia...But off course, there is Dexter , Heat and why not, even Gunter... (not champion but maybe a top 4?)
And what about Branch????
Man, if this situation hapenned like 3 years ago, Cormier would be receiving the pay check even before the competition...the trophy would be his already!!! Monster lack of luck...
Edit: ps, i forgot someone with plenty of potential to win this...Tony Freeman!!!!

This is going to be a great Arnold Classic. Melvin could have been top 5. DJ could be there too but IMO has to deal with the midsection to place high.
Yes, Liftstudio....I agree with your top 3. I think it depends on how they show up that day. Those 3 are very close IMO. Martinez is probably the favorite but needs to be at his best to beat Dexter and Heath. Also, Heath showing up with an extra 10lbs of quality muscle will be very hard to beat.

I hope something exciting happens though. A big surprise/shock for everyone. I'd hate the Arnold to become too predictable or for one athlete to win it year after year, it would be boring. No offence to anyone, i'm just speaking out of the publics eye.

One story will be Heath and whether he can still bring it after putting on more muscle. You hear so many guys say they are going to bring and put on more muscle and most of the time they bring a wasted package to the stage. Melvin I thought would fall in this trap but he proved all doubters wrong at the O. Whether Heath can do it will credit the hype.
