I just received the latest FLEX in the mail and saw Arnold on the cover, GREAT PICTURE OF HIM. My problem is this, although he was one of the greatest ever (possibly the greatest but that could be argued), why does FLEX constantly give him covers, use his old work outs, and give his so called advice. I mean the man is not God, he is just another pro who didn't do as well as Ronnie or Lee. Granted he made movies and was in the public eye a lot more and he did become a governor but I could care less about reading about the past. I buy the magazines to keep up with the sport. Not get history lessons. I want to see new things every month. There a many pros out there who would have like to be on this months FLEX but they chose to put a has been on there.
No direspect to Arnold because he was great but so were many others you never get to see. Sorry, but it's time to put him to rest and let him be a politician not our almighty king.
By the way my FLEX had the invoice for renewal inside and I shredded it. They need to cover todays sport a little better.
-
Easy, cause Arnold STILL sells magazines. Although I'd never buy a Flex, when I see Arnold on the cover I go check it out.
-
Good point, but I personally am just sick of seeing him. I'm sure many will want to argue with me but it's just the way I feel.
-
What I'm tired of is Flex magazine's decline in the quantity and quality of their contest coverage. BAck in the mid 90's it was king. Now their contest coverage is pitiful at best, with typically a mere 2 pages devoted per contest. TWO!

you've really pissed Alexxx off

They are just proving the fact that all Current Bodybuilders look like too much shit to put on a cover.

nope plain and simple Arnold just sells. Old folks who used to lift and dont any more will pick up a mag with arnie on the cover.
-
Good point. A normal 8x11 cover can't seriously hold the titanic mass and freaky striated beef the modern
cattle bodybuilder presents
-
only gays buy Flex Magazine.
-
Why not recycle some LEE HANEY, FLEX , KEVIN, OR SHAWN PICS
-
I lost respect for them when they removed FLEX AND FEMME coverage
-
i lost respect for them when i found out it's a bodybuilding magazine.

Haven't you read Uncle Joe's spiel at the beginning of every issue ?. I think it reads something like "You will find no rehashes of old information". You must have imagined seeing an old issue of Flex with Arnold's training routine inside. I think you'll find this is the first time that Flex has run such an issue with Arnold's routine for bulging biceps & titantic tris ;). My advisez is to get reading & get pumping, 30 sets for arms never hurt anyone.
SERGIO!!!!

Arnold's tiny now. What's he know about training
-
I think they do it because they still kiss arnolds ass. How many times are they going to put some stupid survey out to find the greatest of all time or something, only to have arnold win every single one? He was the best ever, the most popular, had the best this and the best that blah blah blah.
-
Just put "Me" on the cover ;D ;D

to some extent this is true...
They are also hoping than an average person might buy the mag because they recognize arnold on the cover. If ask the average joe to name 2 current bodybuilders they wouldn't be able to...hell the might say Arnold

How true! Arnold looked like a real man. He maintained his physique well after the Mr. "O", through the late 80's and early 90's. He didn't look like such a freak walkin down the road.
Mainstream society can Identify with him, and that's what mag's want.
I'm tired of the same old freakin workouts, and not telling the truth about how much dope these pro's are taking.
-
arnold was an inspiration..but its kinda pathetic they have to use him "every second month" on the cover...also training and nutrition have advanced since then..(i know you can always learn from the old guys too..but still...)
-
Simply because it sell :)
I know I love to read about Arnold even if I have to take anything that is written in Flex or MD with a grain of Salt.
And I tell you lovely folks exactly why we love to read about Arnold, because it was the best time Bodybuilding had, it was a time without the massmonsters a time were bodybuilding had a meaning beside just getting big a time of learning.
Today every little 21 year old can go the gym and with the help of a Private Trainer and a view drugs can get "big"... there are far to many idiots out there that only want to get big because they think the chicks like it.
The real reason to Bodybuild has been forgotton and everybody likes to bee reminded of a time were things weren't so complicated and were you were actually something different if you were bodybuilding.

Lol what an idiotic reply ::)
