last year all over the mags we had everybody on the phil heath bad wagon and now this year everybody is on victor martinez band wagon..i know vic is good but is he that good?..i mean in every other forum they have vic at no.1..what about gustavo, ruhl, toney?
-
victor could have been even better but instead he added to much mass...and got a thick waist. but his back is sick if you seen pics from muscletime. he had great future (he can still do damage) but i think he (partly) fucked up his physique...

HEATH HEATH HEATH
Vic is geat but as unpredictable as Titus on meth when it comes to showing up in shape.

he has better structure than most guys on IFBB circuit...but he has to come in ripped shape...but i think it will be hard for him to reduce his waist.

his case is very similar to heaths..heath needs to gain a few pounds and vic needs to loose a few pounds

Well oddly enough, for those that feel Victor's physique is so-so and he's unpredictable lets look at his recent track record. 5th at the 05 Olympia, 3rd at the 06 ASC, and 3rd at the Olympia. Since he's teamed up with Chad i think his track record speaks for itself! I seriously await to see the ASC line up with Dex, Phil, and Vic battling for the top spot. Plus, the placings are based on the actual physiques they bring that day, not the reputation or what they've done in the past.

dont get me wrong victor is good but after adding too much weight his waist got to big..he could have been better if he had added less mass more slowly

::) if victor comes to the ASC in the same shape he did last year he WONT be top 4.... which although great for the average pro would be a huge disapointment for victor...

Victor Martinez still has hope and he works hard
-
Heath will conquer.
-
He's underrated. If we see him dry as a bone and full best ever it will be an amazing sight to see.

Maybe because he looked better than Gutler and Ronnie at the O?

Vic's physique is not "so-so", it's sic and one of the best there is. The issue isn't his physique, it's the question of it's conditioning. Two things Dexter and Phil have that Vic doesn't is consistency. They're conditioned when they step on stage each and every time. Victor is capable as he showed early on at this yea's O, but can he do it again? That's the question.
Let's look at the consistency of placings:
Victor

Yes, well aware Heath's are NPC and not IFBB for the same year but has proven himself every step of the way. Dexter is Mr. Condition and it'll be between him and Phil. ;D

Barring any sudden inprisonment for stealing car radios in spanish harlem Vic should do OK this year.

you mean the same Chad that fucked over Ronnie?
-
Vic looked unbelieable at the NOC that he won, then he f it all up with added mass. His Ab-thighpose is sickening
-
If Victor is in shape he will win. He has no weak bodyparts. He is bigger than Dex and Heath.

Again "IF" - that is what everyone keeps talking about "IF". We know Heath and Jackson will.
It's a big "IF"
-
If... IF'S and BUTS were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Fuckin Christmas...!
-
Vic needs to focus and train reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eal hard and heavy like Ronnie does. If he gets Ronnie's or Yates' work ethic, there is no one at the moment who could beat him in a couple of years. He need to get to work especially on the Squat rack.

Haha... that wasn't bad... where do you get this stuff?
"Where is that from... the 80's?!?"
"No more like the 70's"
-
vic is probably the only bb other then ronnie, that has a shot at beating Jay
-
Yes but like what Father kiwiol said...he has to develop a work ethic comparable to a Ronnie or Yates...even a Jay.
Notice that with Jay, Ronnie and Yates...know what they have in common? They stay away from 'the scene' and focus strictly on their job...which is bodybuilding.
Haney as well.
Victor is great but he is very very much involved with the whole Bodybuilding living like a rock star 'scene' on the mean streets of New York.
He needs to isolate himself from the outside world...then he can do it.

Very true and this work ethic is what separates Yates, Haney, Coleman and Jay when they're at the top, where the guys have almost comparable genetics. Look at Kevin Levrone and Flex Wheeler - they were serious and focused in the beginning of their careers and won the Arnold and placed high at the Olympia, justifiably. Same with Chris Cormier. But then, the little bit of fame they got went to their heads and they lost focus, trained with machines instead of heavy, basic free-weight stuff (which is harder and more effective) and paid the price for it with lower rankings by displaying a less-than-stellar look they could have sported had they been spot on.
TBH I think that the work ethic doesn't suddenly enter a person's mind. Drugs do and trainers do, but not the attitude. It's easier to lose the attitude since the hunger is quenched quite a bit by fame and acceptance (amongst the fans). Hopefully Victor doesn't get too distracted cause as someone once said, 'One of the saddest things in the world is wasted talent'. There are guys who had great work ethics but not the genetics, such as Shawn Ray, Dennis James and probably even Marcus Ruhl. But to be the top dog, one needs the right combination of genetics and drugs and training and nutrition and attitude. And when I say genetics, I don't just mean the structure and pre-disposition to put on muscle, but also response to drugs and resilience of joints etc.
-
Yes. I concur.
I have reason to believe it was NYC bus driver 'Lorenzo Agnello' who said that the sadest thing in the world is wasted talent.
Rocky 3 would be an excellent film for Victor to watch every day. That film, that particular story personifies the point you were making, sir.
Rocky lost the hunger and gave in to the limos, the glory, the mansions, training in a 'health spa' and the glitz. 'Mickey' even told him..."Come on kid...lets go back to our old gym and lets show the blood, sweat and tears again..."
Victor has the tendency to want the NYC nightlife of playing, clubbin, dancing, after parties and nickle/diming just a little bit more of the humdrum groundhog day lifestyle being the best of the best requires.

You're forgetting Dexter beat Jay at the Show of Strength Pro Championship.

your forgetting that victor and melvin both beat jay and ronnie at this years olympia,no matter what the placing

Victor is great but he is very very much involved with the whole Bodybuilding living like a rock star 'scene' on the mean streets of New York.
He needs to stop associating himself with Gtreg Vavolino. Vic, had the party streak in him, but from what I read, he had had his nose to the grind stone before his NOc win.. All you need is someone like Gregg, and others hyping you up, and being in NYC, its "OHHH, PAPI", this, OHHH PAPI", that, your ego gets blown up, and you lose focus, lose the hunger. Vic might turn into the East East Chris Cormier, if he is not careful.
Wolves don't hang with sheep, they eat them.
-

Ryker's again?
-
He's underrated. If we see him dry as a bone and full best ever it will be an amazing sight to see.
Agree...he has an awesome structure and full muscle bellies..an ideal speciment.
-
Maybe he's opening another gym in a neighborhood that doesn't know his past

Hahah...Great bodybuilder..but honest businessman... no. ;D

Troy Zuccolotto ...American Muscle Magazine (yearly wrap-up show with Lonnie Teper)
circa ...mid to late 90's
-
If Vic is working with Chad again, he is going to come in on time.
if his kidney survive.
flex, ronnie, don, tp = care to chime in.
-
Heath is overrated. He's too narrow. No hate, just saying - being as narrow as he is he should get smoked by an in shape victor.
-
Ok Heath is good we get it. The guy has been in TWO IFBB shows. Granted he has won both but come on already. He only won ONE of those shows by a landslide. Victor placed 3rd at the Olympia and the Arnold last year. Two highly competitive shows. Year of the Dominator............... ...
