Mr I, I've been waiting for days, for your analysis of this list of Dem initiatives in the fisrt 100 hours
-no new spending if it adds to the deficit.
-implement the recommendations of the 9/11 commission
-lobbying reform ("break the link" between lobbyists and legislation)
-raise the minimum wage, and allow no pay hike for Congress unless the minimum wage increase is approved.
-ban on privatizing Social Security
-negotiate lower drug prices
-cut student loan interest rates by 50%
-roll back multibillion-dollar subsidies for oil companies

You're missing the big picture, he got elected part in part due to an oath he made, a promise that he would not flip. many dems may not have voted for him had he not made that campaign promise. So that is a reconciliation with the voters during the election. Enough dems voted for him, he kept his office... So now re-evaluate your comments. There is also all the dems that stayed loyal... He pisses all over them if he flips... He is going to flip and break his word in my opinion...

I doubt Liberman will become a Republican. I don't see how that would be any benefit to him. He's better off as in independent. I do think that sometime in the next 2 years Cheney will resign and Bush will appoint a new VP (my guess would be McCain)

Truthfully, i haven't studied the issues enough to give an answer.....but on the privatizing of SS IMO, is a great idea as far as retirement goes, that being said, I would much rather have my money go into an investment account rather than just having a token amount come (right now, it's around $5-600.00 per month for a full SS retirement benefit) each month. SS is only meant to be a supplimental income, I would much rather have a larger return on my money, but I have no plans on ever retiring!

That's because many people hate pelosi cause she's an annoyting twunt.
But, many of her policies make sense to them. They don't want to agree with a damn liberal on 6 of her 8 items which their party won't pass, so they stop talking. Anyone who spends a year dissing pelosi, then agrees with 75% of her initiatives their own party won't pass, is conflicted and self-owned anyway :)

what's your point? Obviously this administration only has two years left. The point of my original post (the one I think you were responding too) was that sometime in the next two years Cheney will step down and Bush will appoint an untainted person as VP who can then pardon Bush/Cheney (should that be necessary).

based on the current version of the Republican party - the one that allowed 911 to happen, planned (or didn't) and executed the "less than successful" campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan (remember Tora Bora), ignored all the generals and war planners and stretched our military to the breaking point.... I'm willing to give the Dems a run at it for a while. They could suck just as much as the Republicans but then again that's a pretty low bar.

The "we haven't been hit again" defense is specious argument and I wish everytime Cheney says it on TV that the stupid fucking talking head would point this out. You can see a perfect example of this on the Simpsons when a bear invades Springfield and the town decides to have a bear patrol. Homer assumes that the bear patrol is keeping the bears away and Lisa points out that she has a magic rock that keeps tigers away (i.e you can't prove it doesn't work right?). Of course Homer doesn't get it and he wants to buy Lisa's magic rock.
Back to the real world. If one assumes that some group (possibly within our government) was responsible for 9-11 then it get's really creepy when Cheney keeps mentioning we haven't been hit again and/or keeps talking about "mass death" in the US. I see that as more of a threat than a warning.

Correct. If you believe the US knew about 9/11 and didn't act, then that means Cheney is saying they could choose not to act again?
if you believe elements of the US Govt orchestrated the attacks, that means Cheney is threatening you.
If you believe 911 was a complete surprise, you really have to ask why Cheney would make that statement, then do nothing to close borders or implement 911 commission recommendations. If he's concerned enough about a second attack to alert/scare Americans, surely he will pass every single piece of legislation possible to prevent this. Yet they don't. Odd...
