THis time I added 22lb and still got a double. I still seem to be leaning back too much at the start. Anyone have any constructive advice? I am aiming for 600lb in December at 98kg. I am 112kg at the moment but quite fat. It is 5 x 20kg plates and a 10kg per side. Thank you.

good lift, you're not exactly "big" though.

doesnt look like your locking out at your knees or up top...
also are those grip pads your using?... drop those, not the same as usiing straps but def undermines the integrity of the lift...

My knees hyperextend so I cant really lock them out. They are small pieces of bycycle tubing as the bar is very old and totally smooth.

Go real heavy once every second, third or fourth week.
Meaning, you would do 3 or 4 sets where you try get the new PB, then the following weeks, you back off the weight, perhaps 20-30 kgs at least. Stick with triples and doubles on these workouts as well, and 3-5 sets.
Eg:
Week1
Heavy (all out)
Week2
Light (80 kg off the heavy week)
Week3
Moderate (40 kg off the heavy)
Then go for week 1 again, or do a week4, where you do another Moderate session, 30-40 kg under what you lifted at during your all out week.
This, of course, if you're lifting doubles and triples for the most part.

good lift which gym you training in? I'm also in Adelaide.

Not sure what to tell you about the knee situation. One thing I did see is it looks like you could push your hip through a bit more once you cross the knee.
-
When you get to the top you lean back TOO FAR. That causes your knee's to bend and you rest the weight on your thighs. That is considered hitching and no fed will allow that lift. Also, loose the shoes your using. Get some deadlift slippers. Titan sales slippers for 5.95, it will decrease the pulling distance by 1/2" to an 1" and add 10-25lbs to your lift.

Some good points there guys, thanks.

Good lift, bad form not locking knees!

Cool, I competed last year at 98 kgs also.
You have a good lift. Personally I put my feet a little bit more than shoulder witdh...
This year I will try to compete again, If I don't have any more injuries. Good luck for you man!

Big Lee,
Great lift, if you dropped your hips at the start and drove with your legs I be their is a few more pounds in ya!
-
Lord you were right. I drop the hips now and got 11 reps with that weight, spread over 3 sets though with 2 min timed breaks. 11 reps total with that weight though is massive improvement. Thanks

How about new shoes and the hitch at the top, have you worked on that? Sometimes you've got to sacrifice weight for technique. Still, it's a good gym lift.
-
Yep, got the chuck taylors, and no hitch anymore. I am on a big cycle of strength so will post anohter deadlift at 610lb in a few weeks.
