i am a big fan of mark coleman.when he first came to the mma scene he was just unreal.he just destroyed everyone in his path when he was in his prime.so if peak fedor fought the peak mark coleman of the 1990s,who do you think could have won that fight?? i would say coleman

Fedor but if you're talking about the days of headbutts and everything else, Coleman might stand a pretty good chance. It'd be interesting to see Fedor in a situation like that.

Coleman in his prime was a beast, his GnP is legendary. It would depend on the rules, if it was all in then he would have a decent chance. If it was modern rules then i think Fedor would bully him around and finish him regardless

Mark was at his peak 4 years before he ever entered the octagon. He was 27 years old when he wrestled in Barcelona Spain for the USA olympic team.
Fedor would have a very rough fight if he fought Coleman when Mark was 26-27.
Mark was a violent dude on campus at Ohio State. Pure aggression. Always looking for a fight. Then would get into bar fights whenever he went out.
He put on a seminar when he was national champ and beat the living crap out of the high school students. He used seminars not to teach people, but to get himself ready for olympic trials.
Tank Abbott knew about Mark's steet fighting backround by UFC 10. Having never seen Mark fight, Tank predicted that the rookie would win the tournament....and tank was right. It was well known at that show that Mark was a violent brawler...in bars, in clubs, on the street, or on the mat.
I know a dude that got beaten up by Mark. Mark was 21 and my friend was 17. He said that all he did was try to correct mark on his form on power cleans. Mark called him fat and punched him in the face (at the gym).

Oh jesus!! Colemans rise was due to his GnP which before had not really been utilised in the sport properly, he took everyone by storm with it and was great for a while.
He did not learn other styles as well as he could have, like the other (Hammerhouse?) meatheads he trains with.
Fedor is a master in all aspects as far as MMA goes, look how he beat Cro Cop, that there tells you how good he was, he also be Nog in a totally different matchup.
He would destroy Coleman, headbutts may make a difference but coleman would have had the shit beat outta him long befor he managed to use them.
Non matchup fedor is the greatest coleman was a good fighter

Like Tyson... Never controlled himself. Fedor is a superior fighter, phisically and mentaly. Coleman would always be defeated by Fedor. Fedor can controle himself and use energy when needed. Coeman was defeated several times because of that. Good fighter, nevertheless.

Mark Kerr at his top was a better Mark Coleman type of fighter. They had very similar physiques and style of fighting but Kerr was more explosive and maybe even stronger.
Maybe he could win by points if he always put Fedor down and while on top throw punches to score...i thing that would be the only way possible...

Coleman a Kerr wrestled many times in college and olympic/world levels. Coleman won every single match.

i personally think fedor would beat coleman no matter when..i think it would be just as ugly as the recent fight they had.

just because he was a superior wrestler doesn't mean he could beat kerr in mma. i personally would put my money on kerr if both were in there primes. kerr could have been one of the best mma fighters ever if he wouldn't have ruined his life with drugs.

I've said this before about Coleman. Had he studied guard passing with a top bjj player, his game would've improved exponentially by being able to execute his GnP from half-guard, side control or mount as opposed to full guard.
Fedor's success against Coleman came as a result of utilizing the guard to stretch Coleman out, extend his base, and nullify Coleman's primary weapon: GnP. Not knowing how to pass the guard, Coleman just lay there with his arms extended begging to be armbarred.
Coleman's losses were not a result of being over the hill, as much as not having an answer for the tactics that Fedor employed.

Coleman was a great fighter, but Fedor would have beaten him badly, in his prime, and with headbutts. Fedor was a Judo medalist in the olympics and a world Sambo champion. Coleman would never be able to maneuver Fedor into a position allowing him to headbutt Fedor. He wouldn't be able to do it. Fedor's grappling is superior.

And this is why he has never taken his game to the next level. Monster's defense of Shogun's heal hook/ankle lock attempts were pathetic and made me think a work was afoot. Hell it look WWFed to me. Hammer House needs a BJJ black belt of high caliber to help them. Seriously....

And BTW whatever Coleman did or didn't do he would never be in Fedors league and would always lose.
