You hear arguments thrown out there all the time regarding what the single biggest factor is in developing a great physique. Some play the genetics card (I think this is a crutch that guys who use a ton of gear fall back on, but that's JMO). Others cite intelligent eating habits. Some claim it's workout intensity/variety/persistence.
What do you think is the biggest factor in developing a great physique?
Genetics
Training habits
Nutritional Habits/nutrient timing
I'm not including drugs amongst the choices because I don't want to turn this thread into a bunch of garbage. Yes, steroids work (unless you're Vince Goodrum). Let's put the gear arguments/talk aside and just talk about bodybuilding in it's purest form. Which factor sets the men apart from the boys?
Personally, I would put it as a close call between training habits/intensity and nutrional habits. I think the genetics card is overplayed/overated to a large extent. I'm not saying you can make chicken soup out of chicken shit but I think you don't have to have genetics handed down straight from God to develope a "good" to "great" physique.
What say you?

they need to be contrasting colors...otherwise no growth

From being around alot of regional and state winning bodybuilders I would have to say genetics for most of these guys...Other than that pre-contest preparation is the biggest factor when it comes game time...I have seen alot of guys that have what it takes, but can never bring it together during pre-contest dieting...

genetics. period. whether you're natural or juiced, genetics are going to be the ultimate factor.
think about it, some guys can half-ass it in the gym and eat poorly and still look built as hell, some guys lift hard 4 days a week and diet perfectly but struggle for each pound of muscle. some guys can do a 250mg/week cycle of test and gain 45 pounds, some guys do 750mg/week and just turn red and bloated.
genetics are the bottom line.
