Title: Pros and WRIST WRAPS!
Post by: Bluto on January 16, 2007, 06:16:01 AM
I'm watching BATTLE FOR OLYMPIA video right now, and pretty much every pro use wrist wraps! what gives?
they've stopped using gloves, but they've brought out the wrist wraps, nearly every one of them.

I THINK YOU MEAN LIFTING STRAPS.YOU CAN USE MORE WEIGHT AND REPS WITHOUT YOUR GRIP GIVING OUT=MORE SIZE-SMALLER FOREARMS

Its hard to hit some exercises hard if the forearms are the weak link.....shrugs, dumbell rows, etc....

They take great pressure off the wrists.  Especially when doing bicep work.  You can't go heaver than the corresponding joint, but with support you can.

I dunno about you guys but my back is stronger than my hands, so I use straps.

I don't think they effect forearm growth at all, because they take over AFTER my grip fails. Plus my forearms are just fine size-wise.

The only mofo's that still use gloves are Ronnie Coleman and Chris Cormier.

I take one knee wrap and cut it in half for wrist wraps.  There is velcro on one end and velcro in the middle.  So when you cut it, it will have a piece of velcro on one end. Works great and they are wider

i usually use them for bicep and shoulder work towards the end when i add that poundage for biceps on a straight bar ill curl 65 for 15 than 85 for 12 than i use em for 95 x 8 than 105 x 6 and thats it...

so you have a shitty grip and, likely, shitty forearms. man up and buy some goddamn chalk. i haven't used straps in months and there's not one exercise i can't do.

The best way, is to use straps, then hit forearms separate.  If you your shoulders/back can lift more than your forearms, you are haulting their progress.  Do a few sets of forearms per week and it offsets the strap usage, plus, builds a fatter forearm.  You can hit forearms best through regular exercises, they should be hit separate.  Even though many bodybuilders don't do them, they would most likely be better if they did.  Does Priest work forearms?  Regardless, this has worked well for me.

Wrist wraps, straps or grips or whatever its called, is totally gay!

If you can't hold it, don't lift it.
