...and inspired you. Three women who inspired me and were "role models" include Edith Warton and Virginia Woolf. Edith Wharton was born into a wealthy family... she threw aside the conventions to become a writer, more often than not, writing about people who were trapped by family/societal expectations. She was an unconventional rich girl, to say the least.
Virginia Woolf was a lesbian who liked to ride in men's breeches. She too was trapped by convention, but somehow managed to throw off the shackles (for some time at least, until her suicide) to write prolifically... including the novel Orlando, about a man who becomes a woman and is forced to live eternity in her skin.
Not gorgeous women... but very, very spunky!

The other one is definitely Lisa Lyon. I consider her a pioneer in female bodybuilding... and she always seemed to have some innate ability to see her body in art. Mapplethorpe brought her vision there... :)

My MOM....
She is my everything....I love her soooo much!!

:) Lucky you. I haven't had mine around for quite some time, and miss her, always. But yes, our mothers are the ones who teach us to be who we are. I consider myself lucky that mine always taught us not to fear anything, to laugh, and to never leave words unsaid...

I'm posting this, which I think is funny but you most probably don't...

...me being what I think is funny but you most probably don't...
Of course we all have a sense of humour. ;) But you of all people xxxLinda must have a fav author or someone you admire?

Hi Deedee, I gotta log out, gotta go to bed, big day with builders tomorrow.
Off the top of my head:
female authors I admire: Dorothy Parker, Ayn Rand, Emily Dickenson & Beatrice Potter of course. Jane Austen?
artists: Freida Khalo dont know how to spell her name but I loved her hair...
Oh and that elderly lady from New Mexico or Texas or someplace who did the wonderful paintings of flowers.
What happened to Lisa Lyon? She's probably like 50 by now.
She was one of my faves when I was younger
people I like always make my heart palpitate.
au revoir
xL
ps: I've never had a role model nor have I ever wished I was someone else.

One of my role models was my mother. I lost her 4 years ago. She taught me to be self sufficient so I would never have to depend on a man for anything.(the reason I became an auto mechanic, carpenter, and assorted other things) She and my Father were married for almost 50 years
Another of my favorites was Coretta Scott King. She was active in the civil rights movement and was such a support for her husband. She was truly the power behind the man. There are many others I admire for all they've done in the way of civil rights. My favorite quote: "Well behaved women rarely make history"...
The list of female bodybuilders is too long...

This woman made my heart race right here...
I credit her for being the reason why I went through puberty. :)
That exact scene in 'Walk Like an Egyptian' video when she is singing...and at the second refrain of..."walk liiike an Egyptiannnn...." and the way her eyes turn to her right and she lets out a slight coy smile to this DAY makes TheBlockHead shudder...

Here, here's another post I think is funny (I happened to be away from England for the entire thing, I moved back here in 1986... when I lived in Canada, we were told she was great. Since I've returned I've been told otherwise.
