Title: Does anybody just do straight sets of negatives?
Post by: Cap on January 17, 2007, 11:46:26 AM
I normally do them after I go to failure but this guy asked me to spot him for 3 sets of negatives with 275.  Is that wierd?

It's not weird, people been doing that for a long time. I think it's dumb though. People should do them like you do after you hit failure.

For one set maybe but three was a bit much but I was in a good mood today.

I don't see the benefit in just sets of negatives.....I'll hit negatives after full, partial and forced reps and failure.

I used to do negatives all the time.  Very important in tendon strength.  I usually only did them on bench and preacher curl.  We had those Keiser air machines which are great for negatives.  I did the preachers on those.

Do you know if that's all he did? Cuz he might have just finished up several "normal" sets...or was working it into his routine some way you did not take note of.
3 sets, negatives with 275.

how is your leg doing?

Lower leg is great.  Just an inch bigger than the left.  Upper leg though still a bit swollen.  I go to the doctors tommorrow for a Doppler to check it out.
