hahahahaha, his "trained legs" on his segment on BFTO 05 and after few sets of 150 pound leg extensions he goes into smith machine squats and with some long haired dude hugging him from behind does a few sets of 8 with 4 plates on each side literally going 5 inches down and not even coming all the way up, them this assclown has the nuts to say, "if you're not training this hard don't show up for the Olympia" hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
are smith machine squat really easier than normal squats ?
cause that big dude at my gym was squatting 6 plate a side on the smith for a couple of reps and I tought it was impressive.
I never saw him do real squats tho
-
yes they are
-
hahaha. he shouldn't bother going to the olympia. what did he get a $20 taco bell gift certificate for his placing?

I hate them. Either they put too much pressure on my knees or I feel like I'm going to fall backwards with my legs so far in front of me. No point in doing it on a smith anyway if you're throwing 3+ plates on. ::)
-
I do 5 plates a side on the Smith... definitely not the same as 5 plates a side of regular free bar squats. BUT the Smith is easier on my lower back. Because of the way I'm built (long legs, short torso), I can remain more upright in the Smith and keep the stress on my legs.

I tried them once but even with 2 plates it felt weird, I don't like it that much
I prefer free squats or front squats

Yeah. Unfortunately I've got long legs and I have to stick them pretty far in front of me to take the pressure off my knees to feel it and it's just weird. Free weight 4 lyf3!!!!!!!!

you forgot to mention a few things.
craig does like 2 forced reps on leg extensions and acts like he's done the most intense set ever.
also he was wearing knee wraps and getting a spot on every set of his smith squats.
when i saw that in the preview, i thought, that must be a drop set (s).
-
Im not usually one to rag on the pros but he really does train like a nerd. He is big in spite of his training, not because of it. He would prolly be Mr O if he trained like a normal person. I thought he must have been special.

I saw this guy once at the gym...he had this bright red string tank top on and neon yellow spandex shorts on and had his 'doorag' backwards like PAC...
Persian guy...don't know his name but anyway...he had 7 plates a side and had 9 guys SPOTTING him for quater reps.
He racked it and his giant TEAM of spotters patted him on the bakc and told him that the bucktoothed jackasses with their pens/pencils will be silenced now!

All you guys are using the Smith machine wrong...your feet don't go out in front of you..they go back.
Take a regular stance like you would if you just stepped out from the rack...now take a half step BACKWARDS...this will put you in the proper alignment to squat...and no pressure on the knees.
Putting your feet way out in front will assuredly put bigtime stress on the knees and in particular, the patellas...

My smith angles downward and the only way to do a squat on it without putting your knees 8 inches over your toes is that way. It's pointless either way.

i think i'm going to tape myself doing leg extensions with knee wraps, plus get a guy to help me do forced reps. then i'll let the stack slam back down and yell "go heavy or go home, baby!" into the camera.
-
150lbs leg extensions, what a beast!!!!!!!
he must be able to squat, 240lbs with full range reps.. out of this world!$!$ @$
-
ok 1st ragging on his training is one thing,i am sure he is plenty strong,he is a freak in jersey and was a great teenager and at 20 had pro written all over him in the early nineties,i know where he trained and told many stories, grew like a weed and has very good leg's,probably best bodypart.he is built along the lines of dex, charles,if he comes in at 230.i know someone who know's him and grew up with him.

kamali holds the world record in the smith machine weightless bar quarter squat with 13 spotters.

Squadpapi your laughing at Craig Richardson for having one of the best chests today or wheels? Calves? Placing at the Olympia? Training at the YMCA? Which is it?

Yup. He's supposedly a lawyer. Lucky for Craig. ;D

The Smith machine should be BANNED!
One of the worse things as far as training to ever happen to bodybuilding. >:(
-
Richardson is a great BBer. He trains for size, he gets size. He trains for condition, he shows up ripped. Hardly laughable, unless you're jealous. ;)
-
The Smith machine isn't bad. I don't squat in it but I need it for calf raises. My gym doesn't have a standing calf raise machine.
-
Squats on the smith machine are so much better on your knees and back. AND, they are effective!!!
-

Damn..I begin to like your style, sarcasm..
-
Exactly true Chick. If you do Smith squats with your feet out in front you are doing them wrong !!!!! That's why they hurt and you are not getting any results newbs..... Place your feet right under you as you would with the free squat. Smith machine squats are actually better and you will achieve greater results when you are using very heavy weight as your back, erectors, glutes are not doing most of the work. I don't know about the long leg / short torso thing. but I'm the opposite, with short legs and long torso and Smith machine squats feel awesome for me. And don't use those newish stupid Smith machines that are on that slight angle. That might be your problem. You should be going straight up and down. I also have always thought the weight should be on your shoulders for legs, for a full range of motion. I don't ever do Leg press for that reason. Not nearly the results I get from Free squats, Hacks, and Smiths.
-
so what..he still has impressive legs

Sarcasm is owned yet again.
