Title: New Issue of Kaged Muscle magazine
Post by: Mr Gethin on January 20, 2007, 10:13:18 AM
Getbiggers,

The new issue of Kaged Muscle is released into the wild.
I am expecting (hopefully) a good response from the second issue after the (mostly positive) feedback I recieved from the first issue. I would appreciate it if you (the fans) could tell me what you would like to see in the upcoming issues that is missing in the other publications out there.

There are training features and awesome pictorials on Strydom, Flex Lewis, Yates and Marika Johansson. Articles on Muscle Memory/contest prep, back injury prevention and the awesome Steve Reeves.
Also, I am proud to announce that we have some never before seen pictures from/around/backstage of the 81 Olympia.

Here are a couple of pics from the issue.

Thanks

The new issue of Kaged Muscle is great- Good work Kris...

The Strydom interview/workout was a good read!
- One thing about the interview Kris.. Did you ask Gary what he was doing in his time away from pro BB? Was he still training?
- Is Gary seeking help for his contest prep, especially in posing for the up comming shows?

FONTS and type treatment - The overuse of novelty and script fonts make it look amateurish. There's a reason why when you go to the bookstore you see BIG BOLD simple lettering on the mags - it works.

Best of luck with the mag. See ya in Pasadena.

Nah, that's what makes it look EDGY. Only the hardest of the hardcore need apply!  >:(

You think that will make him feel better if he's standing in the unemployment line wondering "Why did my magazine fail? It was totally hardcore!" Which, being hardcore is great, but there is a reason hardcore gyms are closing up, hardcore mags are folding, and people prefer to train at Bally's. Why? Because hardcore doesn't work except for an exceptionally small group of people like us here on the boards. But, that amount of people will never overthrow the vast majority who wish to read newspapers and eat Fritos while on the reclining bike.

hardcore mags are folding

That's only because they're not hardcore enough! By being so balls-to-the-wall as to substitute a "K" for a "C" in their title, Kaged Muscle has proved that they're the true hardcore.

Damn, you're hardcore. Satirically speaking of course, but you're still hardcore!

I like Kaged Muscle because of its differences to the "big 4".. The fonts, the writing style, the cool pics are not found in the other mags.  :)

I checked one out.  They don't talk to you like you're stupid.  i like that.

you read a flex and you have articles like "Do squats really work?", ghostwritten by an IFBB pro with comparatively shitty legs.

Hey thanks for the compliments, much appreciated!  :)

Gary has been working busy with his clothing line since retirement - its gone mainstream.
He has been training most of the duration he has been retired. He always works out at Golds around 10 or 11pm to avoid people and distraction so many thought he had gone awol.

Gary doesnt need anyone to help him with contest prep - hes old school and knows the ABC's on getting ripped. I have a feeling that Bob Chic may help him in the future in regards to posing but as Im sure Bob will agree, its hard to get an old dog to accept new tricks.

If I dont do hardcore I'd be selling out. The check from the unemployment line would probably be more financially rewarding but Im not in this for the $$. This is why we have chosen the hardcore path. I work for a couple of non bodybuilding related publications so I can fuel this beast..........whos with me.........anybody...... ....hello ??? :-*

Hey, I'm with you. I'm glad you aren't in this for the money, because being hardcore won't bring in the scheckles like one would hope. One word (that happened to be a magazine that folded about 3-4 issues in.....) "Pump!"

What do you consider "hardcore"? To many here "hardcore" is nothing but discussing drugs and dosages.

Just curious

'Real' workouts being captured in my pics.  'Real' fly on the wall editorials etc, not drugs.

This is why I chose to cover guys like Ricky Welling, Dorian, Branch and Strydom in the first couple of issues. They train like animals and those are the people I like to capture in my pictorials and document their training rituals as it happens. I consider that real and hardcore.

great answer Marika.. & that's exactly why I have subsribed to the mag (that and the ads in MD were shitting me).
