Have you paid the membership fee? I'd kind of like to see an example of the information they give, before paying for it. What all do they give you?
-
I you've paid the fee, copy and paste the whole site into a thread please. ;D ;D
-
^^^ yeah, or you can download the entire site for offline browsing. I can recommend some programs for that if interested.
I don't know how many of you actually have experience working in the supplement industry, but when you do you learn some startling things. There's a lot of shady practices going on, sometimes it's downright scary. But I guess the same can be said for any industry. You know, there's always those who are trying to scam, mislead, or get something for nothing.
But honestly I'm surprised that a company as big as BSN would have a label claims problem.
EDIT: you know, upon further looking at the site, I'm not sure it's totally trustworthy. First of all, they're selling not only a membership, but also supplements and testing services. That's bound to cause a bias of some kind.

You're right.
NOTHING is ever completely unbiased.
-
The tests dont lie. How do you explain the products that tested out ok? Not just that, but brands that had products fall in the felonous and certified areas? The lab in this instance is independent.
Its not hard for me to believe that a company that goes through thousands of pounds of raw materials per week would skip the tedious step of testing.
-
Yeah, except for the fact that there is this one never-heard-of company that appears to have a perfect record. Hmm... perhaps that particular brand is owned by those who run the site??? I don't know, but it is suspicious.
-
Well. Check it out for yourself.

Whats suspicious about it?
-
if they were really interested in spreading the word about bogus companies they wouldn't be charging a monthly fee. the whole site smells funny to me

yup.
And, btw. If you're not a complete idiot, you know that nearly all supplements don't live up to label claims, except MV maybe.
All that ~tech shit, ~drol, ~bol or whatever is BS.
-
depends on how big the difference is. if label claims 90% and it's 88% who cares.

I agree, you never know who's running these sites. Plus it looks like they went after Sci-fit, another value supplement type of company. That'd be a good first target if I was trying to differentiate myself with the best value supps on the market...
-
Yeah. Sci-Fit is all over that site. 8 failed products and 2 certified ok. I joined up and looked at the lab data on those items... Very dissapointing.
It doesnt matter if they're a "value" company... They shouldnt be selling people things to put into their bodies that isnt what it says it is.
For instance, the lab data on a few products showed ND (non-detectable)... So whats in it then??? WTF? So you're telling me they're selling products that cost as high as 60 bucks and they're just selling me sugar powder or something?? There are laws that are in place to prevent this type of thing you know?
But, look at the others on there that didnt pass. BSN Cell Mass?? Cell Tech...

I had a one year membership to http://www.consumerlab.com/ because a scientist recommended it to me.
Interesting stuff, but they never tested the brands that I use while I was a member. The reason these sites charge a fee is because these tests are not cheap. The funding has to come from somewhere.
Some supplement brands that failed their test the first time corrected the problem, then passed the second time. I believe that consumerlab is legitimate, reliable and truly independent.
-
Beware of lead in your supplements folks. It happens more time than you care to know.
