Post by: Cap on January 21, 2007, 08:40:34 PM

OMG!!! My ex mother in law was the "Monster in law"...I couldn't do anything right. I didn't cook good enough, couldn't clean good enough, hell, I couldn't even be pregnant right! She'd tell me "don't slouch, you're crowding my grandchild, don't eat that you're going to get fat and cut off his blood supply, etc... Dude if she's anything like that, just have a hitman take her out...I'tll save you years of agony... ;D
But my prayers are with you my brotha, and I hope for a really happy rest of your life!

The ex-almost-mother-in-law (we were living in sin), who was Italian, was the best lady ever.  Although I wasn't Italian (nobody's perfect) she rationalized that I did come from a "good" European family, with "good" European values, so that was at least acceptable. It was the ex who she really suffocated and nagged ("NOT IN MY HOUSE, WHO RAISED YOU... OUT... those ripped up jeans make you look like a HOODLUM" etc). I on the other hand, was bellissima and she always took my side.  :)  The only real thing that was annoying about her was this obsession that not a single person in the world could cook but her.  She would almost faint if you didn't pour half a box of salt or a cup of olive oil into everything.  But she was very sweet and loving, and I think I stayed with the ex an extra three months because I knew I would miss her.  :(

Lol...all Italian moms share one heart.  ;)

But I think you're a little biased.  I bet your girlfriend makes a huge effort to get along with your mother, while you probably do more of this  ::) when it comes to the future MIL.

No if you can believe it, it is more of the other way around.  Her mom likes me and hates me at the same time.  She wants her little girl to go to NJ to live and I'm "keeping her from that" even though it's a mutual decision and she doesn't want to go to NJ. Lol

My MIL is 100% Italian...and I could not ask for a better one!!  I don't have the horror stories that I always hear about.

My mom is 100% southern belle...who "blesses everyone's heart"!  She loves Bob, and they get along so well.  She's always asking if I am taking care of him!

We don't have the family craziness...everyone gets along and we have adopted each other in the family.

Please don't say you're from Staten Island.  ;D

Oh my Gawd, ya skaiyhd me!

Let's see, choice between NJ and CA... must have taken all of six seconds for her to make that decision.  :)  But I can see how the MIL would not be pleased.

I think that's what pissed off her mom.  Her mom wants to control and be up her/our asses.  She calls at least 5 times a day.  If we lived there she would be over every day.
